@@chasermalloy7406 depending on your age they are. And that is what I love about the sport. The first race i watched when I was 16 was the 1999 Bathurst 1000 and for me the prime of supercars was 03-04 as the cars were impeccably presented. I do love the races from the 80s & 90s as well.

@@Chewbroccolii Yeah - I guess the V8 supercars have good old days too. I've had a couple of them as well as older group C & A touring cars and I do appreciate the design and construction quality but the Group C era just provided better racing. Tyre changes and fuel stops were for the endurance series. Pit stops and fuel stops in the sprint races is an impurity. When a dropped wheel nut can lose a race you have moved away from the man and machine thing. Glad you enjoy it but you missed Aus touring car racing the way it used to be.

@@chasermalloy7406 I actually love that supercars has basically put all the older races on. I first started following John Bowe but back then he had passed his prime so I had to skip back to the 80s & 90s to see him in his prime. I find it harder now to stay focused on the races with the same passion that I use too. Supercars today are so far removed from the car manufacturing industry that it's more for the spectacle and show. I am still divided on if this is even sustainable long term or will spell the death of supercars and any market relevance (why would a manufacturer enter into a fuel guzzling sport in an electronic car industry now). Anywho, I digress but I do love the older races.

@@Chewbroccolii Well I guess the touring car masters series or whatever must be matching or bettering the group C cars and their construction is very similar. I think they still use a treaded tyre rather than a slick right ? As with most historic classes they just keep allowing more and more freedom so they now have 600 HP and more. As for John, I think he can still match it with most unless that's changed in the last couple of years. I think the mustangs and a couple of Falcons are the hot performers now. I think the Toranas are being left behind. If you put John back in the Mustang I'm sure he'd still cut it !

Lol! He's been retired from full time racing since 2008. 5 time series champion including 3 back to back. 6 time Bathurst winner. Wish I could drive as bad as him.
