God I hope so!! It still hasn't secured a deal with a major North American film distribution company and if there's still no news on that front before the month is over I'd be getting very worried, as a film needs to be released before or by 31 December this year for it to be 2018 Oscars eligible. The reviews from its premiere at TIFF have been very positive with all three performances consistently praised but a lot of people pointing out McAdams as something of a revelation. I have friends who saw it at TIFF who loved it and hope to see it recognised by the Academy, too. From what I've heard, all four of these people deserve Oscar noms for their work on this film (Lelio for his direction, I doubt for his co-writing of the screenplay as some reviewers have mentioned the script is less impressive than other elements of the film) but I have a feeling the most likely to be nominated will be McAdams for Best Supporting Actress. The only very, very minor criticism I've heard regarding her performance is that her British accent was less than perfect but everyone who mentioned that said it was still effective.

i think this film just proved how talented rachel mccadams really is... i'm a 15 year old bisexual and i just watched disobedience a few days ago. when i was younger i watched mean girls and rachel mccadams played the iconic character of regina george, and i'd say the majority of the movies she's acted in, she's played quite a stereotypical and fictional character. when i heard that she was going to play a queer woman within a jewish community i didn't quite know how she was going to pull it off considering i've only ever seen her play iconic roles. but now that i have watched disobedience, i can simply say that she is phenomenal... both rachels took on their roles exceptionally well considering they both identify as straight. the film was real and raw, and i can gladly say that i am proud that we have this film as a representation to the lgbt community.

This was one of those genuine, rare films that surprised me. I loved the story, and the instant chemistry between McAdams and Weisz was the biggest part of that. Any other actresses and the film wouldn't have worked.
