I normally avoid comparison videos but this one caught my attention because of the amazing vocalists listed, and the song in question. Having seen the Musical "Wicked" and having had the soundtrack played in my home for years. I had to check this out. Lea is Broadway Royalty and Rachel Ann is also highly accomplished in Broadway circles. That being said when it comes to things like this, you almost have to wipe your mind of the resume and go with what you see and hear. Morissette does stand out as best representing the intention of the song as it was written . This song is the climax of Act one and it knocks the audience right between the eyes with its power and intensity, which is what Morissette brings here. She's not been on a Broadway stage but she is experienced in musical theater, having done Repertory Philippines "Camp Rock" as well as another musical. She was brought along by her former managers ,both who come from a Musical Theater background. She has also had a personal session with Lea Salonga, who has been a longtime supporter of Morissette. As was pointed out Broadway is not just one style, and much depends on the genre of a Musical. Casting vocally for Dream Girls, vs Rent, Vs Phantom of the Opera for example would require vastly different vocalists, which is most likely why you see differences here.

I love Lea and Rachel for their fantastic theatrical musics but for this time, I gave Morissette the edge for Defying Gravity as she rendered this with a very fresh and new level of dynamism.

Broadway or not I'm hooked on Mori. 😊I love Lea too but there's something about Mori that draws you in

Morissette nailed every aspect of this song/performance. Her talent, her skills, her techniques, her storytelling, her presence, her energy. Hands down. Of course Lea did well also. But Mori's performance here is just on another level.

Only Mori made me imagine the scene.. it is a gift. Lea’s diction and delivery was superb as always but the emotion and conviction was lacking imo. Rachel’s was also nice but there were flats.

Morissette did not perform in Broadway but that doesnt mean she does not have a Theater background she played the role of Mitchie Torres in the Camp Rock the Musical which was played by Demi Lovato in the original play in 2012 under Repertory Philippines. For me its Morissette i respect the legendary Leah Salonga she's already an Icon and Rachel Ann Go is also the pride of our Country but on this clip i prefered Morissette ❤️

Leah sings it like she would do it every night on Broadway. Rachelle went flat a few times. The best IMO was Mori, love her tone however she should have not growled so much in this song. Mori then Leah and lastly Rachelle.

I much prefer yung version ni mori sa stages. Look for it youll be amazed coz she sang 5 broadway songs without a full orchestra its so raw. Most esp the song from the Waitress musical. She used to beine.
