This is in dedication of all sufferers and victims of COVID epidemic - to those who lost their lives, to those who lost their family members, friends, to those who lost their jobs, roof over one's head, food from the table....
It has been a terrible year for all of us, and it's not letting go. Will our lives return to normal? Or it will be a "new normal" - empty streets, closed cafes, emtpy seats in concert halls, private concerts for privileged few and "virtual experience" - for the rest?
A musician, an artist, a tour guide - will our skills, our talents be needed ,or - as one politician suggested - we need to look for new jobs? I always believed that music is NOT entertainment, it has healing powers for those in need, not very different from religion. I hope I am right.
Love to you all! ❤️ We shall overcome.

The first 3 notes is lento after that it should be Andante. I think Rachmaninoff plays it like its written in my.score. with that said she is the pianist and she done exellent her way. I might try playing it like she did. I'm dyslexic and have a hard time playing it Andante. It's a pretty prelude. And should not be rushed at least the first page. Hats off to one of the best pianist of today.

@@josephhapp9 That's true, but even comparing this performance to others on KZfaq, many people rush the octave scales in the first section while lisita keeps it slow the entire time. it's an entirely different feel that's dependant on how the pianist wants the music to be heard

Virtual experiences will surely never come close to replacing the in-person concerts, the true musical experiences. But they are the one thing making this bearable. Despite all the problems, I am endlessly grateful to have been born in an age with the possibility to listen to musicians like you with only a quick search and click, I never want to take that for granted. We will come back and we will come back purer and stronger than ever. For only once you lose something can you truly comprehend its value

Hello, I'm a Brazilian fan. For years I have waited for you to play this prelude. This was the best time for you to play this piece, because the context we live in and the introduction of the video further enhanced the dark, contemplative, euphoric and hypnotic atmosphere of this song. We often hear this piece and forget how magnificent it is. Thank you for contextualizing and bringing back the shine of this work of art. (And forgiveness for my bad English). Love U

I saw you at Monkton Combe on the 6th March just before all of this engulfed us and your signed autograph of my ticket sits framed on my mantlepiece as a reminder of that concert...the last concert I've attended. You are so right about the power of music. We all hear music, but how many of us actually listen to music? Your performnce of the C sharp minor prelude was so right...powerful, haunting, brooding, ominous. I feel I just want to weep. Thank you Valentina.

I just watched this seven times in a row. My roof must be leaking because there's water everywhere...but it's not raining. Rachmaninoff was my first love in classical music.
