Racing against a Storm - Climbing Epic via Ferrata in the Dolomites

I love the Dolomites, but they have a big problem...they seem to be prone to bad weather, more than any other place I've been to. It might just be our luck though 😂
In August we had a long weekend booked to do some epic Via Ferratas. The weather prognosis didn't agree with our plans though.
On day one we were lucky to get a good weather window and managed to go to the top of the Sella group via Ferrara Possnecker (Delle Mesules).
During this hike, we met two English hikers who advised us what to do in case of bad weather, the short but engaging Via Ferrata Col Rodella.
So during the following day, when our weather luck ran out, we decided to go and try this Ferrata instead.
Conveniently placed opposite to Possnecker, on Passo Sella, Ferrata Col Rodella didn't disappoint. An amazing climb with some fantastic views, and definitely a great option for anyone with a limited weather window.

Nicely done! I did this one this summer in a storm is was STUPID, all that polished rock when wet made it way harder than the given grade but was fun 🤣

What do you think about the effect of stong winds on your mental state? Like stress / anxiety level and motivation? I find it just unconsciously makes everything a little bit more exciting or stressful depending on the situation. If I hike/climb on a ridge with constant strong winds, it will make me uneasy over time. Even though I know it's not necessarily dangerous.

This is pretty much why climbing in a gym and outdoors is a completely different experience, anything outside of a controlled environment is going to be difficult. I think that the mountains are a character-building environment. High winds can be very intimidating and feel like chaos. I like the challenge of getting a hold of your mind in the noise.
