I have a story with a former Swedish racing driver Rickard Rydell. Once where he drove a race at Bathurst his right mirror was wrong so he could not see back after a tap with another car so the next lap he deliberately drove slightly into the concrete wall to fix it and it worked😎

Does ACC allow remote drive swaps? For some reason i never considered this before... I don't think it does but I didn't look into it. Running 12H solo, especially at bathurst, sounds just a tad tiring.

I wish more games would have a scenario or historic challenge mode like the NASCAR Thunder series did, where the player gets a scenario that happened or could have happened in a real race. This video reminded me a little of stuff like that, probably my favorite "mode" in any racing game ever. Imagine the scenario: "The #7 Bentley Continental won the 2020 Bathurst 12 Hour by 41.5 seconds; with rain threatening throughout the last 20 minutes the weather held off until the moment the Bentley crossed the finish line. In this challenge the rain doesn't wait until the end of the race, take control of the #60 McLaren 720S GT3 with 15 minutes remaining and make a timely pitstop for wet tires and chase down the Bentley in changing conditions."

I love your knowledge of all forms of Motorsports history Jimmy, particularly that a Brit knows a fair amount of Australian Bathurst history. It gets me excited I’m more an F1 enthusiast more but being an Aussie I will always have love for Bathurst and V8 Supercars. So when an non Aussies know a lot about Aussie motorsports history it’s so cool.

Turn 2 at the end of mountain straight is Griffin's bend not quarry corner. Those sliding sends at the chase were great to watch

The bigger sin is calling McPhillamy Park Skyline. McPhillamy Park is the last left hander before you drop right over Skyline. Ok they are both minor things but irritating all the same.

Supercars suck and I say that as someone that never missed a second of any race at Bathurst for 20 years right up until it went to shit. They use Nascar blocks, Nascar heads, non production bodys with fake body panels.. I mean.. They ARE Nascars.

I am constantly going to Bathurst and have been for my entire life to tend for my farm. There is nothing more amazing then parking up at skyline and watching the stars from there. You can almost feel the power of Brockys engine Rockies coursing through your veins.

Love how they put a ton of effort into the clouds and fog gathering in the far distant landscape when its rainy conditions on the track but the spectators are still standing around in T-shirts without umbrellas getting completely soaked.

my uncle used to drive around Bathurst in one of the old support categories and one day I was lucky enough for him to take me around the track in a 2006 V8 supercar when I was like 10 years old. Best day of my life

I was there on Saturday for the 12H, it was 38 or so degrees but hearing the flat 6 Porsche, followed by the turbo flutter of the Merc,Aston and Bentley and then the ferocious V10s made it amazing to watch!

It’s crazy. You’ve been able to race at Bathurst for years in the rain and even at night in Project Cars. Yet this is a totally different experience that it’s like doing it for the first time. Now if they’d only add all the cars from PCars2 and the same VR support to ACC we’d have a real simulator for the first time.

I just raced at Bathurst in the rain 🌧 Storm ⛈ actually but on Project Cars 2 with the AMG for 10 minutes it was a lot of fun even though my wheel was all over the place because of the settings in the game are all over the place with different cars.

Eli S Yeah it’s always turning me away. I keep trying to give it a go but it’s just all over the place. The IndyCar is the only car that works really good with my settings I can drive that thing hard like on other racing games. I try other cars and it’s horrible.

T2 is Griffins elbow. Quarry is between The Cutting and Reid Park, however Quarry is never used in Aussie broadcasts.

As a local, I can tell you it's Griffin's bend and not quarry. And also Skyline is the next corner, where the channel 7 bridge is. The one you are referring to as Skyline in McPhilamy .

youd be surprised how much grip you can have on a wet surface that doesnt actually have standing water. i ran a mildly rainy track day on sticky 245s and i swear it felt faster than my sticky 205s were in the dry. i couldnt believe how much i could push it.

I never really got to like Bathurst in other racing games and / or sims. It felt like one of those tracks that appear too narrow and require more braking than actual driving. In other words: It put a uncomfortable emphasis on my lack of driving skills. ACC managed to fix that. I guess its the accuracy of the laser scanned track paired with a physics model that makes me really feel linked with the car. Of course I still snuggle with concrete more than I should, but it keeps getting better and better as well as less and less frustrating to drive. Hell yeah, I even had an online MP race in the rain last night, and it cost me less SA than I thought plus it was a shitload of fun. Well done, Kunos!

Turn 2( first right hander), It's not Quarry Corner, it's Griffin's Bend. Turn 3 & 4 (left & left) are The Cutting. Turn 5 (right) has no name. Turn 6 (right) is Quarry Corner. Turn 7 (left) is Reid Park.

Turn 2 isn’t actually called quarry corner, it’s called Griffins bend, also skyline is just as you turn down through the esses heading towards the dipper, what you were calling skyline is mcphilliamy park.

Yes, when searching for a patch of water, a wet one is best. 😁 I don't know where Quarry Corner comes from, but turn 2 has always been Griffins Bend. Does this version of the track have the infamous "metal grate" at Frog Hollow?

Geordie Pugh Griffins was originally called Quarry for the first fifty or so years of the circuits existence, probably someone trying to get the traditional corner name recognised

Mt panorama is just as exciting in real life as it is sim racing. I've done some track days and admittedly have raced when it's an open scenic drive 😬. You really have to hug a lot of the corners especially when climbing. It's an experience like no other. You can lose sense of distance and width of the road in sim racing but braking points and speeds do translate over.
