In high school growing up in central California we made fun of short dark Mexicans calling them Oaxacan. Fast forward 14 years later I’m now happily married to a Oaxaquena who speaks mixteco and we are teaching our daughter her indigenous language saan savi so that it can be passed on. San Juan mixtepec is filled with the most wholesome people you will ever meet. A small mountain town where everyone truly does know everyone.

Discovering and interacting with different cultures is one of the best things about life! There is so much to learn from one another! Prejudices run deep, more than I ever knew but, if a recording came out about (for example) black citizens or Asians or the Jewish community, these people would of resigned right away.
