I love the description of radiation poisoning as a "curse" because to someone with no idea of radiation, an invisible energy that makes teeth fall out and skin melt off and is a sure kill that takes days to kick in sure as hell sounds like some black magic

For the Tech priest of Mars and their large armies of mechanically enhanced soldiers rad weaponry is their prime usage, and they leave such destruction in their wake that nothing biologically living will survive the aftermath.

If you really want to cripple a SM chapter. Ruins their Geneseed. It adds insult to injury, buy “tainting” them and making the recovery of the seed impossible. But it’s a two-sided weapon. Risks are always taken.

Oh yes Skitarii Vanguard are a lot of fun to play. I hadn't had the joy of playing them in 9th but in 8th they regularly traded one for one or better against Astartes. I love my glow-in-the-dark boys 😁

Being a Skitarii Vanguard is a slow death sentence, as even they can't survive their own weaponry for long periods. The only way to survive is to be promoted so high up, that you earn a full cleansing and replacement of your entire biological system. If for instance you are promoted from Vanguard Alpha to an Alpha Prime or such lofty command position.

As I often say while selecting my Gunner on Deep Rock Galactic, why deplete the rounds? Hit them with 2000 rounds of active uranium, even if the shot didn't kill them, the shot will still kill them.

I was in 6th grade when the television movie The Day After first aired and remember so many of the younger kids in my school being freaked out and worried about it. Those of us who were a bit older explained to them that they didn't really have much to worry about. Our school was just outside of Washington D.C. and only about 8 miles from both the Pentagon and Fort Belvoir, so we were basically at ground zero and in the event of a nuclear war we wouldn't have to worry about radiation poisoning or anything like that, we would killed pretty much instantly with the first strike.

Very cool video sir Baldemort. It is this which made me create my own homebrew chapter which focuses on these weapons. Well, both Rad and Biological. Cause i think that Rad Weapons are a interesting part of the lore and it should not be forgotten.

Fear of the nuke is a story from my dad, my history teachers, and my grandma. There were bits of it in the old cartoons I would watch on Boomerang. I suspect that loyal Death Guard would have been the ones to use these weapons in mass.

I am old enough to remember those days. The days of the MIRV and cobalt warheads. As a child I was told there is no escape, shelter is a myth. Knowing that if the wrong thing happened the best hope was to die quickly. These weapons still exist, and they have spread. MAD policy. True insanity.

Would be fitting that they saw plenty of use on old irradiated wasteland Terra through the Unification Wars.

Great video, also I would hate to fight with the Mechanicus as a Guardsmen, they are great support but use weapons that will kill you just as much as the enemy.

I'd love for my Jump Pack Destroyer squads to be able to join the ranks of my Dark Angels Fallen in 40k. Knowing I could have 2 of those launchers firing with Suspensor web & Rad missiles. 4 Rad missiles firing at 3+ even if they moved could make everyone but the likes of Death Guard and Deathwing squeamish.

saw a documentary once, said that back on that catastrophic day Japan was nuked, before anyone could imagine what a nuclear explosion was. Shadows were burnt into the concrete, The Gama rays were so powerful it melted fingernails, hair, and soft tissue like the eyes immediately from the body. Blinded on lookers to the Devistation, thought we blew up the sun. When I think about that the gravity of what was done is never lost on me. Grimdark right here on 🌎 Some weapons are even too dark for the Grimdark imo 😕

I would argue the "easiest" thing to get done in 40k is dying. Yet Ironically the hardest is dying peacefully.

A dark weapon, perhaps even darker than the time, perhaps…

Radiation is a uniquely terrifying thing. Consider Chernobyl. When it first kicked off a guy was sent from the control room to go see what happened. If he sprints, he lives a long, healthy life. If he jogs, he might get cancer a few decades from now but we all might get cancer a few decades from now. If he walks? He dies in agony as his body melts over the next three weeks and there's nothing anyone can do about it. And without the right equipment, you don't even know it's killing you. Horrid stuff.
