This video demonstrates the heat transfer process of Radiation through an exciting experiment. We have 5 glasses of the same size, 1 bottle of water, colored cellophane sheets, 1 laboratory thermometer and a few for this experiment.
According to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), dark and dull colors on a home's exterior absorb anywhere between 70 to 90% of the sun's energy. Hence, dark paints make a house warmer, while lighter color paints do not. Black absorbs more of the different wavelengths of light energy, followed by violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red, in descending order.

can we use a regular thermometer, instead of a laboratory thermometer?

Yes, you can use a clinical thermometer too as we just need to record the temperature and the water will just be warm enough to be recorded in the thermometer. The only difference is that when you use this thermometer you will have to shake the thermometer to bring the mercury down before putting it into the next glass (since this thermometer has a kink which maintains the temperature of the water in the glass even when you take it out of the glass). In a Lab thermometer this becomes easy as it has no kink and hence the temperature immediately comes to room temperature, as soon as we take it out of the glass
