Episode 40!! This has been a milestone, I’m taking a gamble here on a slightly undersized radiator for the 1.8T! Will it be up for the job???

Appreciate it man!! Yea I didn’t no if ppl will like longer or shorter vids so I gave it a shot😅 and I forgot to actually show the 4 time welding that radiator and not leaking in the tote but it seemed leak free!! I just don’t no the actual PSI in a radiator wen it’s at full temp, if over time more pin wholes will occur 🤷🏼‍♂️

Very nice vid once again! The mod your friend suggested is called a "dual pass radiator". Is always needed for single side exit radiators. Companies like mishimoto even sell tripple pass radiators because they indeed cool better then single pass radiators. Nice job, looking forward to the next one.

Short or long video always Quality. 👌👌 That the DIY method to make a Dual pass radiator. From what i've been told the paint of Aluminium parts is to blend the parts together, appear shiny (more palatable to customers) without polishing them, hide the low quality of the extrusions and delay the oxidation's white powdery residue. Tight fit as expected.

love the longer video, some great ideas and awesome work as always 👍, I'm busy with putting a 1.6i 8v vw mk3 engine in my classic mini clubman. Basically what u did with Mini Rick, i don't have a awesome name for my mini though 😅

Hi Mini AF, great vid, interesting to see what you did at the front end with the intercooler and rad set up. Good job you have a clubman front end regards space hey. Thought you might have put in a long slim rad on top of the intercooler for space reasons, but as the video went on the way you've cut it into the front panel...it's all good hey! Great stuff 😊

Thanks Fry! I’m hoping this all works out but like you said if this does cause issues I should be able to find another Rad that is longer and slimmer 😬😬 my fingers are crossed

Deff. It was a cheap radiator off the internet, so if it didn’t go to plan I wouldn’t have been out to much money 😅😅😬

Really like the longer video with commentary. I understand what your trying to do with the radiator flap. I don't see why it wouldn't work, but I'm sure there will be loads of keyboard warriors out there just waiting. I was going to mention the intercooler size but I see some one else already did... best you can do is run it and see what happens. Playing this forward, it looks like you're going to run out of good weather before you get to paint and body....

U wouldn’t believe I’m just waking up now and it’s 45 degrees F. Where the hell did summer goo???!!! Yea he had a very good point and I’m not engineer savvy like that lmao 😂 but the show must go on and I’m just praying it’ll be okay haha. As far as paint and filler, mayb I’ll be at that stage by next spring/summer. Really is like to build the whole thing and keep it ratty looking. Beat around town for a few weeks and find all its flaws, fix them whatever they may be, then tear it all down and paint everything!! Well that’s the plan anyways haha

Looking great, fingers crossed it keeps her cool! Next summer will be the test. I feel the narrow intercooler is pushing the limits with only 8 or 9 tubes in what looks like a 2" core. Do you think the cross-sectional area is enough to avoid a choke point?

@@klegraefe Maybe use the scrap part of the intercooler to measure the cross section of one tube. If the total of all tubes adds up to more than the cross-sectional area of the inlet (~2" pipe?) then hopefully all good!? Ideally would be more area than the inlet due to the inefficiency of the narrow passages etc. FYI, I have absolutely no science or engineering evidence to back up my claim 🤣
