Hey man, I'm in the process of doing exactly the same as your mini, any tips? Things you'd do differently? Also what weight did you end up with in the end? I'm trying to keep the weight as low as possible for the bike engine. Love the channel!
@klegraefeАй бұрын
I don’t no where to begin haha, the car is absolutely amazing hands down. Sad thing is, I don’t drive her that much, main reason being, I never got the reverse to work as I wanted to, it does work but I don’t really like how it is, plus it’s an absolute rocket ship, if your building a racecar, I would do this, if ur building a street car, for around town and such, I would not recommend the street motor, a lot of hi revs and with no reverse, it makes it sometimes difficult to drive In public especially in traffic hahah. Overall though, I’d say it was an Easier build being u have a much smaller wiring loom, and most of the components are small and can pretty much fit anywhere in the car, biggest challenge was fitting a slim enough tunnel for driveshaft and exhaust while keeping enough room inside the car to fit a proper seat, the tunnel makes it super tight inside basically. As for weight, I have no idea. My best guess is somewhere around 1700lbs I appreciate you watching man thank you 🙏🏻

Your tool doesn't do nearly as well as theirs because your RPM's are probably double or tripple what they should be even with you turning it down. The harbor freinght one is way better than this method and the Eastwood is a bit better quality than the HF version. The RPM's is the key to making this device work properly.

I wish you actually spoke and explained In depth on what tools, techniques and materials you used, especially for the mounts. It would’ve been more informative for people tackling this with no experience. Nevertheless, everything came out good.
@klegraefeАй бұрын
I agree. That is completely my fault but in my crappy defense, I’ve never made mounts from scratch b4 and this was fully just guessing and checking. I thought the video was somewhat followable. But you are right, I need to try and explain more. Appreciate your opinion 🙏🏻🙏🏻👊🏻

For sure, I’ve really taking a liking to the Audi/vw wipers, when mounted solid, there’s bearly any flex and works 1000 times better than the stock mini wipers, but yea it is a bigger unit for sure. That little moon shape I grinded out made all the difference, and I believe there’s still enough meat on the arm that it should hold up just fine. We shall see!! 🤞🏻😅

I think after getting in and out a few times you might just move it to a bracket by the side of the roll cage tube so it doesn’t obstruct ingress or egress.

After 60 years of fooling around with model aircraft engines, motor bikes and cars, best way I have found to clean old bearings is to soak them in paint stripper containg 83% methylene chloride and17 % methanol. Diggers paint stripper in Australia. After say 30 mins. rinse under a running cold water tap/faucet, then hot water and air line blow dry to drive out any water between the cage and the balls. Test and bearing should run for several seconds absolutely freely with virtually no noise. Then immediately soak in red automatic transmission fluid and zip lock bag it. If you have an irreplacable bearing like a Rossi 15 Mk I and II rear bearing (10.50mm bore!) and it feels gritty, try soaking in Evaporust for ~ 8 hrs., then cold and hot water rinse etc.
