I was born, raised & spent whole life in northeast. My grandfather was born & raised in & around Bristol, TN. His impact on the person I am today can't be overstated. He was one of 10 kids raised on a farm. Never learned to read or write. Served in the Navy in WWII (which is how I came to be here). One of the wisest and most real people I've ever known. So glad I came across Tyler's music. Besides being just generally great and real the way my grandfather was, I immediately heard grandpa's way of speaking, phraseology, mannerisms, etc. It's like I get to kind of hang out & listen to him talk for a while. I can't stop listening. Thanks do much, Mr. Childers. You deserve all the success you get, and no doubt much more. RIP Jome Preston Cox b. ? d. 1989.

Tyler is one of my favorites. I’m a serious metal head, but I love good music in every form. Tyler, Billy Strings, Marcus King… don’t say there’s no good new music out. You sound foolish. There’s tons! All 3 of those young men and as real as it gets. And are just as talented as anyone to come before them.

I love the ambiguity in "Too often I reach for things I know keep me from bein' all that I can... like a man.". Is it "like a man" to be all you can, or is it "like a man" to reach for things that prevent you from doing so? The obvious answer is "Yes".

I was out of my mind the first night we met I was feeling lonely and blue I just moved to the country to get me some rest The city put a hurtin' on you Especially a fella from eastern Kentucky Without a penny or a worth to his name Wasting his life on a burning desire and chasing that honky tonk flame You were soft on the eyes and a hymn on the hearin' Leaving me helpless of lines To get you to listen to the way I was feeling And the plans I had made for our night Hold on now buddy won't you wait up a minute You're mistaken if you think I'm the same As them skirts you've been chasing all over town Along with that honky tonk flame I'm a woman with a love so true Truth of the matter, I'd give it to you You just got to slow down and quit acting that way Burning your barn in this honky tonk flame You were sweet to the touch and a touch for the takin' The minute I learned how to breed Finally found out that the love of a woman Who love me was all that I need Still on the road cuz I ain't good for nothin' Except writin' the songs that I sing Beating them strings like they're owin' me money And chasing that honky tonk flame But I've got me a woman with a love so true That's darlin' to me, but that's misses to you All I did was slow down Quit acting that way Burning my barn in this honky tonk flame
