Thank you for the clear tutorial. In my case, the Edge TX Buddy didn't find the bootloader device and the ExpressLRS Configurator also wasn't able to find the serial device. I have a pretty standard Windows 10 installation so I was pretty upset because in every tutorial, it "just works". I had to use Zadig tool to install USB drivers manually. First, I turned off the radio, connected it to the PC, selected the device in Zadig and found out there is no driver, so I installed WinUSB. To make the serial connection work, I turned on the radio, selected VCP, and installed the driver USB Serial (CDC). After this, I was able to upgrade Edge TX firmware and also the ELRS.

Initially purchased tx16s mk2. But later found this one. While I was thinking to change tx16s to boxer or not, they released a new Boxer MAX version with AG01 gimbals. It made my choice simple, I ordered MAX version immediately. Thanks for review. I think I'll have a great experience.

nice vid, I got my boxer as my second radio after some cheap ready to fly crap. Never looking back this radio has literally made me a more confident and better pilot.

I bought it around first half of February and I use it quite often. Overall it is great:) Stock gimbals had some noise in the beginning, but now they are brilliant. Roller wheel sometimes makes accidental moves in the menu, when I try to press it(it scrolls too easy).. not a big deal. I have opened it, and everything inside is very well made. Mine is cc2500 only, because I like to fly redpine whoops.. and I have some ELRS modules. Installed a tiny internal antenna for cc2500, and I also use a diy elrs module with internal antenna. Very compact and comfortable setup :)

Still happy with the old black DJI one.

I bought the boxer as my first radio. After flashing I had the problem that the select button stopped working. Thought I bricked my radio, but after resetting the sd card to the default content I could reflash it without a problem.

Boxer with the TX16s size color screen would be perfect IMO.

😢 I have a literadio3 elrs and because it can't be updated to 3.0 I had to flash down a elrs receiver yesterday and I'm in the market for a "Forever" radio that I can use for rc planes as well but having 3 position switches is kind of a must for certain planes but I think having this radio in a 4in1 and a elrs mod might be perfect 👍🏼 great review and tutorial ✌🏽

What do you do if after add new device there isn't a stm32 bootloader choice?

I first bought a T16S, way too complex and heavy. Then bought a Boxer, yes much closer to what I was after to replace my Taranis, however while the T16 was over done the Boxer is a little ‘under done’. The ‘two position’ switches should have been three position, it is already two switches less than a Taranis, then the extra trim switches that are on the T16 are not on the Boxer, and if they were they could have replaced the three position switches that are not there. Yes the 6 button switches that is S3 needs braille type touch sensor identification even when you are not flying FPV.

Drivers on windows is a common stumbling block. for both EdgeTX Update and ExpressLRS Update via ETX Passthrough

More or less right except tiny points to improve - but more or less for those wing pilot which look at a radio quite differently - at least in parts. At the end I will get one , I mean buy one, but more or less not before Chrismas cause I tend to stay with the stuff I have bought and will have to sell first before buying again. Still have the big Radiomaster and a joystick style one, that I also use during winter on the simulator. But I also have to let you know: the older the first batch of the Radiomaster T 16 gets the more issues have occured , inaccuracies and also burned capacitors or smd components someone in our club had to replace. I mean I am talking about a fleet of these radios purchased back then in early 2020 for the club and build camps for the kids where they can lend a radio to have an easy start. They do not suffer from many hands and breaking plastic parts we had faced before, but now more or less electronic issues, especially the screen is getting darker and loosing everything a display needs like constant backlight without brighter spots. Yes, that is easy to fix, but if you have a fleet of these it becomes expensive to order 10 or 12 spare parts at once. The Fr Sky radios used before had been more reliable, I mean this black joystick remote X-lite or however it had been called for example. I hope radiomaster will work on the longevity of the basic radio without the whole story of the blink upgrades that are too expensive at least for me compared to the price of the basic radio. Just forgotten: these rollers on the lower right have also sucked a lot over time in those 2020 and 2021 T16S. Of cause: support by radiomaster is there and quite good too, also a part of a decision to buy a radio from the brand which is a lot hard in a club where you might have every 8 years a budget for 10 of these radios and also the basic spare parts cause at the end they are used by kids where things can go wrong and you then rely on the supply chain, availability and also prices to get these fixed again. We give 10 away and have 2 replacement for such damages and doing the repairs to bring them back into service. Of cause there is more to tell but that is also becoming difficult in a world of adults cause kids need sometimes different proportions or handlings but kids are not the biggest customer group and fall behind somehow regarding ergonomics even though those joystick radios looked like such kids radios but at the end where not the best for them at all. 90 percentil for the adults might work in cars and what not but it gets harder for those kids and teens to get it right in a time when it is important for them to achieve things and get them right too after an adult had showed them the how to. But that market is too small, too niche cause we all know how fast they grow and what would be perfect now is no longer useable in 2 years after they had grown 40 cms and the tiny finger are so long.

Can you please please please!.. Make a video about how to assign funcitons to top dials and that 6 level buttons at bottom. Like changing VTX levels or OSD presets etc. Can't find any resource about that.

The AG01 are now available with hollow shafts. So it is possible to install switchey, buttons or pots at the stick ends.

Hey Let me just start by saying I'm a total n00b. Like 0 level. I want to start flying quad drones FPV and every tutorial out there says to get a controller and a sim and start practicing in a sim first. So I got the Boxer, cause it seems like a good unit with great reviews, started a little bit of training in Lift-off and was on my way to become the world's greatest pilot. Then I came across your video and thought to myself "geez, upgrading EdgeTX is such a great idea". But I couldn't do it over USB, because drivers in win10, so I downloaded the bin file from EdgeTX Buddy site, put it on the SD card, started the controller in bootloader mode and flashed it. All nice and dandy. Excet it wasn't all nice and dandy, cause I moved the left stick and on the controller screen it showed the numbers coresponding to the right stick changing. I started the simulator and also there the controls are switched... WTF do I do now??????????????????????? HALP PLS

I've owned and loved the TX16S however it is a bit large and can make it difficult for me to easily deflect the sticks to the center. Is it easier to do this with the boxer?

Do you storage charge your lipo in Boxer? It is a bit confusing for me... It is a lipo, so what happenes if you keep it fully charged too long or if you drain it to 0?

@Mads Tech - did it not ask you to update the SD card after the first step when you updated Edge TX? Josh Bardwells video shows the website asking him to update the SD card. Thank you as I’m confused :)

could you please confirm if Boxer is forward programming capable like the tx16s? Should be under tool menu, my file does not run and the error is incompatible. many thanks

It makes me laugh when people upgrade a £139 radio with gimbals costing the same price and makes absolutely no difference to flying experience. A better upgrade are the sticky360 gimbal stick ends. Bling factor AG01 😊

I own a radiomaster boxer 4-1 and edge tx is updated to the latest firmware but for the life of me i cannot figure out why i cannot select to turn off internal module to run the ranger micro elrs module. I select modules/rx version and it takes me to the showing the internal module and ext module off. Am I doing something wrong? thanks

im at my wits end, ive tried different cables, different computers, different methods. None of my computers will recognize my boxer radio. Ive been wanting to get into this hobby for months and after saving and waiting i finally have everything i need and the only thing holding me back is this radio. I don't know if its a faulty radio i thought maybe it was the cable it came with but nothing seems to work. I cant flash the elrs i cant update the firmware. I really really wanna fly my first drone, can you please help me get my radio working so i can feel the freedom of flying?

Coming from the tx16S I like that I can throw the boxer withouth case into my backpack and the lightweight but I HATE the cheap feeling why you and Bardwell don’t say anything about that absolutely cheap feeling specially if coming from a Radiomaster tx16S

I just got mine, I wish it were a lot lighter, it's kind of like holding a brick, makes me so surprised that seemingly everyone was running t16s and that is another 200g extra. I'm jealous of the dji RC (the one with the touchscreen) ergonomics and wish something like that existed in FPV but with full size gimbals.

Elrs keeps telling me its not finding my com port.

I would buy it if they shipped it with AG01 gimballs. I don't need to pay for spare gimbals. That's just lazy on their part.
