I went there in 2018 and managed, with great difficulty, to visit the 3 mines and the workshop in this film. What swung it was a very good English speaking hotel clerk, who made some phone calls to set the whole thing up and supplied a driver. Talk about red tape, but we pulled it off. If you see footage of these locos working from about 2016 on the main line, these are organised rail tours. The steamers are all confined to shunting at the mines. That said, even the main line Diesels that work from the mines to the power stations are ancient 1961 GMCs. We spent a whole day at one of the mines with very friendly staff, and the sight of a Kreigslock working was the 'real deal'. My video, Steam and Diesel, Bosnia, 2018, is here on you tube.

It was more or less the same for us. The owner of our apartment in Tuzla was a good friend of an retired engineer, and made getting permits faster and simpler. Obviously no main line service, and we didn't want organized tours and fake trains, but the real daily service of the last steam. And we got it, in Sikulje under pouring rain, it was extraordinary experience.

I'm so glad these are still running. These engines brought me back memories of 1978, when I was 10, and went for a ride on one of these engines, that were working as a banking engine not far from Novi Grad. From time to time they were hauling Limestone from my Uncles mine at Blatna. Thank you for sharing.

Let's hope that they offer some of those locomotives to museums because I am sure there is plenty of them in Europe that would take almost all of the engines that are no longer operational or sitting on the deadlines

In fact they are still using the JZ 33, former DR 52, so there is no need to sell them. The 0-3-0 JZ 62 instead are not used anymore, but there are plenty of them around...

@@TrainRM There are over 100 DRB 52s in preservation around Europe, there's no shortage of them.

l know, it was mass production, there are lots of DR 52. But as i said the mines of Tuzla are seriously using them in daily service, they won't sell them. Instead it would be interesting to see some JZ 62 restored, the american 0-3-0, there aren't many around!

Yes they are good locos, unfortunately in disuse since a decade. Not all are copies of the S100, they had original ones in Yugoslavia too. I have to check the numbers of those at Bukinje to see if they are from USA or Duro Dakovic...

Bosnia is basically Europe's version of the Norfolk and Western when it comes to steam powered Freight

BR52. Giusto?

@@TrainRM spero in maniera positiva, sconvolto.

@@sergiomarrocco5409 assolutamente positiva, vedrai i prossimi video...
