ODB's wild cadence and eccentric style gave the illusion that he was nuts but if you really listen to his lyrics the guy was borderline genius. Many of his lyrics were comical and over the top but he also spoke a lot about Islam and social issues. He just did it in a way that always made you smile. He was great for hip hop and will be forever missed.

#busa89 He was a street nigga with 13 children... A drunken master on crack. But he spoke some things out , that's true. Watch his interview in probation after jail. Clean, nervous but real. Totally different from the mad 'Dirty' we know.. He says himself it's the 1st time since age 13 that he isn't drunk or something else! Pretty schizophrenic clip. Vest ist when he tells to use condoms and he uses condoms....after that he has that typically ODB laughing!! Best scene. But he doesn't feel comfortable with that talk at all..Just watch it!!

I’m blown away at how he mixed such a wild outta control style into R&B formats. Dirty was 80% of the Spirit of WU TANG. Without him something was missing. Him not all over that Double Album WU Tang Forever was a crushing disappointment.

the bravest man i ever saw die was my father. i saw a few people die right in front of my face but i witnessed my father die a slow death and that man never so much as dropped a tear or showed signs of self pity. still, i saw his emotional, mental & physical pain every step of the way. may the world be freed of the scourge of death, old age, disease & addiction. to all our good souls who are dearly departed, you are not forgotten. ODB was one of my top 5 rappers of all time. So unique & talented in an off-beat way. Died w/ a bag of coke in his stomach, trying to evade the drug laws that sent him to prison the first time. If addiction is a disease, why do we send addicts to prison over it? What other disease do we treat with incarceration?

ODB said himself "life is boring without drugs ",raekwon is spot on, you gotta let a grown man do his thing. ODB'S genius came through the drugs, it's who he was. Who am I to judge him or anyone. He wasn't the same after jail, all the assaults he took, always drug tested on parole, he was a broken bored man. One of the greatest ever to do it, the VH1 documentary about ODB called ODB on parole is a special documentary. It's better to burn out than fade away. R.I.P ODB, Love from the U.K. England. LEGEND. Yung Sammy Sosa Yeah, I always knew that ODB had a drug and alcohol problem, but I also know that comes from whatever he was dealing with on the inside. Both drugs and alcohol tends to be people’s ways to escape, but I feel like a lot people just seen him as somebody who was crazy when in reality it was just deeper than that. Listen to how his "friends" did ODB in his own words. I like WU's music but they used this man. They may have even cared about ODB but they damn sure didn't show it when the man was down and needed them. Even after he was released from incarceration RZA wouldn't release him from his contract. All they cared about was pimping this man out and it hurt his soul. My heart hurts for him and I'll take the man's own words over anyone any day of the week. Rest up Dirt Mcgert. 🙏 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iqqIftmKtpm8kmg.html

Just because they didn't visit the man in jail doesn't mean they didn't love him.

They love him...Method Man cried numerous time on stage while he was paying tribute to Odb, Raekwon did a song dedicated to him, " Ason Jones", they are all missing him . Just listen to the Wu tang song " life changes" . You can hear the pain in all the members' voice. They probably feel guilty because they didn't help him like they should.

Adam Brooks That’s not entirely true. Hell he came out & Rae, Ghost, & Meth had all written songs for upcoming album to help him get back on his feet. Even after Dame notoriously strong-armed RZA, RZA still helped him with writing & producing his album. You gotta remember by this time the Wu was starting to fracture & cats weren’t communicating. ODB was moved & the Clan wasn’t informed. According to Meth, he, RZA, & GZA didn’t even find out until they tried to visit him.

Everyone talking about the WU shouldve done more to save dirty... being a former Marine with a group of dudes, man all you can do is talk, slapping someone around might work for a young cat but a grown ass man, i dont think so... we got our own families and drama to deal with..I'm pretty confident they all spoke with him on one level especially Buddah Monk....which i believe hurt the most... you can see the frustration on his face when dirty couldnt keep it together in the studio....all that talent, all the greats have that drug thing associated with their gifts....very strange

the drugs usually translate the pain better. Gives the pain the emotional water to be great music. A true artist take pain and converts it into enjoyable music. unfortunately drugs and arts go hand in hand especially if the person is a musical genius. the doper the artist the more drugs you will see. lol
