As usual, if you want to see the train at the particular crossing, just look it up on my channel using the search feature my channel has.
Now for the longest one of these I've ever done, with over an hour in video and 80 crossings, we've finally gotten Railroad Crossings 16! However, unlike the last one, this one doesn't feature as wide a variety of equipment or locations, with all of the crossings being in Alabama and Tennessee and most of them being newer ones. However, it does feature a WRRS wig-wag and a US&S signal with stop lights, along with a couple of bell-less crossings, so there's that, I guess.

Now that I've found out about NJT, I have a goal in mind. I want to film all of the crossings on the North Jersey Coast line with 8 inch lights that I haven't filmed yet, since NJT apparently is starting to upgrade them with new signals and electronic bells. I hope NJT can wait until later this year to replace more signals, because I won't be able to get out on a busy day (in the summer on a weekday) until school lets out, and summer visitors move into their vacation homes. There are about 15 crossings that are on my bucket list, and I hope to get them all if they haven't been upgraded yet. Just thought I'd let you know about it since I'd like to see more classic signals in action before it's too late.

Very nice job of editing on the transition between the arrival of the engine and the back end of the train. It is incredibly smooth. A suggestion that I would like to see would be to photograph the engines coming across the road and the last car passing. I really like to see the engine power, know what railroad line it is, and it helps me see what each particular signal style is being used on what railroad.

The crossings that don't have crossing gates are extremely dangerous. Cars can get backed up until they are on the tracks, which puts drivers and train passengers at risk of terrible crashes
@freebrickproductions
@freebrickproductions 6 жыл бұрын
That risk that you've described there can happen on gated crossings as well.
@danielrbsutton
@danielrbsutton 6 жыл бұрын
It is harder for it to happen on gated crossings, since the gates provide a physical barrier across the tracks. You are right, though, drivers can maneuver their cars between the gates if they are daredevils, or if they try to game the system, putting themselves, other drivers, and people on the trains at risk...
@jamesbirt2676
@jamesbirt2676 7 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you've probably have been asked this 1,000 times but what the hell is the traffic lights for on the side of the crossings. It's gotta to be for more than to alert the locomotive operators of that the crossing is functioning. If that was the case then, logically, wouldn't that mean that all rail crossings need traffic lights?
@freebrickproductions
@freebrickproductions 7 жыл бұрын
They just let train crews know the crossings are operating, like gate lights you'll find at the tops of signals some times.

Nice video, but it's too bad you cut out at least the locos passing. It's been years since I've seen a train cross an intersection at greater than 45 mph due to speed restrictions on the trackage in this area. It's all BNSF track, and 99.9% of them are BNSF trains, but I miss growing up in Illinois and seeing the Amtrak or the freight trains come through at 60 - 70 mph right through town (unless the Amtrak had to stop at the depot in town).

You're allowed to have your own opinions. Personally, I like the crossing as it's a childhood one for me (my nana didn't live too far from it, and one of my earliest train-related memories was seeing the HMCR running through that crossing one day) and it has a pair of classic 8 inch WRRS signals from the L&N, though one of the signals is sadly damaged and will eventually be replaced.
