Oil is from plants, the burned carbon then gets re-absorbed by plants, so it's technically true.

3:46 It's one of those crossing on the California Coast that uses a recording of ATSF 3751's whistle for its wayside horns 6:10 that one looks unusual. Where is it? 10:35 I find it unusual that sometimes a railroad crossing would activate for a hi-railer, but sometimes they don't. Are they also exempt from honking their horns? 15:34 wow, one in a parking garage in the Twin Cities area. first time I've seen those folding gates outside of Australia. One car had an ad for the ABC news station. 18:16 I like those lights. Nice catch of the old diner and Phase IV baggage cars 19:20 an e bell and a teardrop bell on the same crossing. Unusual mount for the teardrop bell too. 20:55 where is that Safetran type 1? Also, no crossbuck, just like gated crossings in some other countries 23:10 those e-bells have some weird cuts in them. what brand are they? I also like the unusual "stop" lights on the gate 24:52 old mechanical bells next to an old Dairy Queen 29:46 giant, spiky caps and no bells, but a noisy relay

Hi-railers are considered MWM, maintenance of the Way, they are not classified a train in any way and are exempt from using horn signals at crossings. Usually Hi-railers cannot activate crossing circuits due to the rubber tires, that crossing may be electrically rigged to operate by remote control.

What is amazing is the lack of thought that goes into designing these crossings, especially the ones with multiple tracks, running on an angle, covering large areas of paved road. The too close interaction of rail & vehicle in the street shouldn't make you wonder why more incursions don't happen with the trains. It would make more sense, that the less interaction and the reduction of close proximity with trains would drastically reduce these incidents.

That cantilever is a signal bridge. It is mounted that way due to the ATN Railroad passing underneath.

I like some of the old school crossings where they put a guardrail around it to keep people from driving into the things and knocking them over 🤷🏻‍♂️🙄😂😂🤣🤣 21:00 did that crossbuck fall off and the signal maintainers never came around to putting another on it? where was that at?
