In Illinois, after 10 minutes they start fining the RR & raise it every 5 minutes thereafter.

Depends on the situation. If they’re blocking only one crossing they take the hit, but if it’s gonna be ridiculously long they’ll separate. There is a RR intersection here where a freight line crosse a Metra (Chicago’s passenger train) line. The Metra has right if way & the freight line has a slow speed limit so they make the freight stop & yield to Metra within 15 min of the next train. Sometimes there 2 or 3 Metras in 30 min. Just 8 min away in Chicago there is a CN line that I’ve seen stopped for an hour or more. It’s where it enters the Belt railway of Chicago’s massive clearing yard. Side note: the line by me is owned by Indiana Harbor belt. It’s a belt railway that is used by just about every company you can think of. UP, CSX, CN, BNSF, CP, to name a few. As well as several locals. So idk if the fine goes to IHB or the RR running the train. Sorry for the long response.

No, they're FEC. It's usually a northbound freight stopping so a southbound freight can pass through.

I have also seen Norfolk Southern run through as well.

On rare occasions NS comes through, but not sure how far they go south. I've only seen them 8x in 5 years.

RailROL82 yesssss it’s so many abandoned railroad in Georgia it’s amazing and sad at the same time and yes it is I still never seen a train like that before yet...but there is this old country that town called Richland Georgia..but let tell u about the rail in Columbus..so it goes to this base called ft banning by there is 2 rails one is in good condition but the other one is just in horrible condition in fact it was three rails that went to ft benning one they took up and made into a walk way there was a fork connecting all of them but those were taken up to but the abandoned rail that still exist is in horrible condition..so bad you can’t even see the rails..it’s just trees and grass and all the railroad crossing were taking up..but that rail goes in ft Benning but leaves out and into Richland but the sad part was that...

RailROL82 it was taken up after u leave the base the reason I know why is because my great grandma and grandma stay in a neighborhood were the rails would cross before they enter and they told me it would be a train that stopped them every-time..but that rails goes in the city Richland where there was an old train station there..it later goes into a fork where two other tracks were taken up..but one rail is still there and I followed it but it goes for so long that idk where it ends..but that rail is in horrible condition too because it seem like looters took up some of them..but yea they not long ago paved over the crossing in Richland and I think one end of the rails goes all the way to Florida and the other goes out into fields..there is not much history about it or about Richland which is sad because that station look like it use to be the center of transportation down there..but yea every time I go to my grandma house I look on the side of the road to see where the rails use be at..now it’s just nothing there but dirt
