This movie takes me back a long time, to the 1980's when British Tv still showed great foreign films. It takes me back to my 20's, over 30 years ago when I still believed in society. So happy to have found it again. Thank you.

At some point, you figure out it won't be his wife but Vera. But, when he was looking around the house, I was so scared that there would be a major twist and it would be his wife. That would be so cruel! I loved this movie so much. The ending was heart-warming. The prison officer, smiling when he heard the accordion, was a cherry on top!

I have to comment. This movie is so lovable. It's timeless, and boundaryless. The story can be set at anywhere with only small changes. It can happen in Moscow or in New York. Just the same. So much in the movie can be related to people on so many levels. You label it melodrama. I'll say it's a romantic-comedy.

Oleg Basilashvili, preparing for the role, voluntarily lived for a month in a colony settlement (prison for those who did minor crimes) in order to develop zek habits. The actor disguised as a convict did not inspire confidence among the prisoners. They regularly "taunted" him, tried in every possible way to offend and even provoke a fight. However, the actor did not succumb to provocations. On the contrary, he tried to become "bro in law". However, Basilashvili was polite to the prisoners and even shared "paika" (rations) with them. The hostility of the prisoners soon disappeared. Moreover, Basilashvili even managed to find a consultant friend who explained to him in detail how people behind bars look and behave. For his services, the adviser asked for a small fee: he wanted the actor to mention him in the film. And Basilashvili kept his word. In the scene when Gurchenko tries to wake up his lover, he says through a dream: "Onofrenkov, stop it!" 2:11:45. That this was the name of his mentor

I first watched "Railway Station for Two" in middle school in China and have seen it many times since, even in different countries. I'm not Russian, but somehow I really connect with this movie. It shows how life can be tough and unfair, but the characters still have a strong will to keep going. The acting is wonderful, and the directing is skillful. Life is unpredictable, but kindness can bring you luck. This movie means a lot to me.

Adore this movie!

To me it’s almost like a Biblical story. Turning left chick when you’re slapped on your right chick. The guy is super unselfish , which even in Soviet era was hard to come by. It’s is a sad epitaph to unselfishness , which we unlikely to ever see in our society, until we hear accordion play humbly … he (it) is back! The true hero of humble and unselfish of a person.

The plot of this film is actually based on a real story: a famous/successful Soviet composer was in a car with a beautiful and promising Soviet actress. They were both young and very talented, and were about to get married. She was driving and hit a pedestrian on a zebra. When militia arrived, the composer took the blame. The pedestrian died. Composer's lawyer managed to arrange a suspended sentence. The actress testified that she couldn't drive at all. They never got married.

Ludmila Gurchenko(actress ) was my close friend for last five years of her life . We spent a lot of time together . She died when she was 75 in 2011

I was born in Kiev and left in 1978. I was in school and washed this film and now after many decades so this beautiful movie again. It’s master piece between to great actors of Soviet Union at this time was. What a story about Russian people. Bravo and respect 😊 2:18:12

I didn’t understand this for a long time, because I saw him mainly in the roles of complex intellectuals, but after his Woland - the best Woland of all Wolands - I changed my mind. Gurchenko is simply a very bright actress. What a pity that she left too soon...

Masterpiece . The russian cinema had some great moments. I missed this when it was in the socialist cinema from my country . Everybody said I should go. Not so interested about russian cinema at that time . For obvious reasons . But it's even better as I can see it from another perspective . In a strange moment for Europe and the whole world . When things are generally shifting again . Not for the better .

This is one of my favourite movies from the Soviet era. It really is a classic and so brilliantly performed and directed. Spectacular cinematography at the end with the snow and sunrise scenes. It's one I'll watch over and over again.
