I really enjoyed this film, good variety of content, excellent camera/sound. You did appear to stray ... inside the catenary on occasion. Thanks for taking the time to put this together and share with us all. How things have changed since I did lineside in 70/80s.

Many thanks. It's all good stuff, but I especially like the clips around Selby (old home town) and the NYMR. Quite excellent with no music...just the straight goods. Well done.

I did rather wonder if you were a local Selebian. I attended Drax GS years ago (!) in the days of WDs and the odd 8F so to see the MGR stuff was interesting. I have watched them at Whitley Bridge. Thanks again.

Nice bit of bowling in the opening shot! :D And a nicely timed cross at 6:29.
@KyleLaw19
@KyleLaw19 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I wasn't the best pleased with the "bowling", but I think the shot still had some interest to it. I did my best to manage the zoom prior to the shot at 6:29, to allow all three trains to be seen clearly - whilst maintaining a decent angle.

Very very interesting.Been a fan of big freight for a long time.Fascinates me.Never been lucky enough to be on a station platform when a class 66 pulls through a heavy intermodal load.Love the sounds,especially of class 37,s and 56,s of which i haven't really seen.But watched with fascination the long coal trains pulled by 56's on videos and thought would i love to be standing by trackside.OH YEAH.Have subbed.

Excellent video. Notice how you tend to include foreground vegetation, fields, trees, stations, as well as the train. Feels like I'm right there. Love the variety of freight cars you have in the UK. Much more interesting than here in my USA.

Nice photography. Just wondering if you wear any high visibility clothing when filming line-side as a few drivers at the beginning of the video sounded the horn as they approached. Whilst I'm all for getting good shots, it should be done safely.
@KyleLaw19
@KyleLaw19 7 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I always remain in safe areas when it comes to photography. The drivers who sounded the horn will have either known me personally or done so due to the fact I was at a public foot-crossing.

Great footage; too bad you got doubled on a couple of shots, but that's life when you're out filming. I don't know when the various film clips were made, but it seemed that class 66 locos bore the brunt of freight traffic while class 37 locos hauled most of the passenger trains. Some freight trains were pathetically short; that's hardly an economical way to run a railway! What impressed me most about this film were two things important to true rail-fans: [1] you filmed the whole train instead of just the locos (with only two exceptions, both involving very slow-moving trains); [2] you left the camera alone and carefully avoided typical bad habits of over-eager film-buffs such as repeatedly zooming in and out and trying to swing the camera around once the locos passed in an attempt to capture the rest of the train receding from the camera position.

Maybe next time you can help ID the different kinds of rolling stock on these trains, someone earlier made a comment about the locomotives and how ugly they are,I think they're cool and different,they didn't make them to be cute.
