Fun bit of trivia somebody else has probably mentioned: This minisode is actually based on a scene Neil Gaiman wrote that was originally intended to be the teaser for The Doctor’s Wife. In the original script, it was Amy and Rory present instead of River and the end of the sequence would be marked by the hypercube appearing which would then take us into the episode as we know it. The scene was cut for budgetary reasons and rewritten for this “exclusive” on the S7 DVD release

wow those little details, The Doctor smelling petrichor, the few drops of water at the start and The Doctor finally figuring out what to do. It presents EXACTLY how The Doctor's minds work and this minisode did it amazingly

Not a deleted scene, because it was never intended to be in an episode, Otherwise, yeah, that's about right. They wrote a number of mini episodes during 11's run that were only on the DVDs

The series 5 shorts were like five minutes each. This was literally a minute of screentime with the two of them, a few seconds of voiceover, and that was it. BBC got lazy.

I think this take place after Last Night (future doctor and River prospective). Doctor says that he choose Restourant (Darillium) but "CASUALLY" they plane there. Ps. I thinks that this 2 Minisode take place right after "Angel Takes Manatthan". The Doctor loose Amy and Rory, maybe he was Travel with River for Days, but he start to think that if was his time to lose Ponds, was The time for him and River too. He choose to take her to Darillium, but after he meet himself, sabotage the date.

Oh man, I remember people were saying the exact same thing back when Matt was rocking around the TARDIS. This genuinely makes me feel more positive about the new series, which I have not yet seen (please no spoilers, no matter how bad you think it is; I'm sure your opinions are valid but I want to make some for myself).

No. It's a short series of "minisodes", between 2 and 8 minutes, from series 5 to 9 (including the prologues, 'The Meditation of the Doctor' and 'Planet Karn')
