In this episode we show our rain gutter installation as well as a new soffit and fascia detail we are using on the RRHQ 2.0 Dream Shop Build. A lot have asked to see how we install gutters on our builds, and I always recommend a rain gutter if possible. I also share a new soffit and fascia detail we basically made up out of necessity. Let me know what you guys think of the gutter installation as well as the soffit and fascia.

A pole frame structure is impressive I watched the build of the 48' x 80' building, impressive; the 3 day build of the framing. However the best part is now the interior walls can be changed if once lay out is done and you do a walk thru the building to see if any interior walls be added or moved. This is the benefit of this build opposed to stick framing build of a house. PLUS your crew can come in do the exterior shell and a homeowner could finish the interior of the house. Enjoyed watching the channel. Thanks😁

That is a really good idea on off cuts, makes good use of otherwise scrap material. Another bit of cheap insurance is to stain the sub-fascia board with a solid stain deck stain. It lasts a very long time as it will never see the UV rays like the deck boards do. We try to use the same colour as what the metal trim will be. We'll do all sides of the board as well, just in case there is a water leak. From a homeowners using a roof rake to remove snow, that might damage shingles, trims and gutters, etc. Something that we started doing a while back is to also use the roofing barrier to go over the board as well, especially going into inside corners on a wall surface. It's a really simple to do, cheap per cost of the entire job, gives the homeowner piece of mind. I cannot tell you how many times doing that could, would, have saved the repairs that we do. A couple hundred bucks would have saved thousands. Sub- material prep is the most important, spend the bucks there, it'll save you a ton of money in the long run. JMHO. Great stuff your posting, very much looking forward to the smart-side install..!!😎👍

You need a gutter guy that does custom corners instead of the off the shelf corner boxes. They will look 10 times better and you will only have one seam hidden right in the corner. Also instead of those kick outs for the down spout have him pickup custom set backs. Any decent gutter supply company can either make them or order them. Most gutter guys won’t do either because it takes more time and more skill, but if you like attention to detail. The end product will be way better. Also over time the screws they use for down spouts will rust over time and debris will get caught on them. Rivets is the best option to join everything together. Been doing gutters for over 25 years. Just my opinion.

I do a lot of aluminum soffit with lp or hardie fascia. The most cost effective way to do it would have been f-channel on the wall of the shop. And then nail the soffit to the bottom of the sub fascia. After that u bend up an aluminum L flashing to cover the cut end on the sub fascia and then nail it on the face of the sub fascia. Then u just roll the lp fascia over top.

While many KZfaq channels promote products, RRBuildings actually use it. If Kyle uses it on his own building, then you know it is going to be a good product. The SpeedLap soffit design is excellent, wish i'd had it on my house when I built it.

Really coming together and looking good Kyle! The only thing that would drive me nuts with the soffit is, since it’s all black, the white “dots” visible from the backside of the panel secured to the porch beams. Looks out of place with all the black. I know it’s minor, but once you see it, it’s hard to NOT see it 🤪

@@Gutter0matic OCD can be a very bad thing when time = money, especially if it's something that doesn't matter anyway. When you run a business, you have to choose where you spend your time wisely. That said, Kyle can afford to be OCD because he makes good money from KZfaq and doesn't need to turn out buildings quickly to survive...and that's OK because he's providing a service to the viewers.
