My daughter was a flight attendant for Qantas about 10 years ago and she was on the flight to LA and on that flight was Ronnie James Dio, she got his autograph for her nana, what he wrote was so beautiful, she said there was this beautiful calm aura about him, we feel blessed, my sisters and brothers are all in our 40's and 50's we grew up with Black Sabbath Led Zeppelin Iron Maiden etc, best Rock music ever.

Wendy Maxwell Immediately after the death of Ronnie James Dio, there was an article about his life. The article stated what a great person he was growing up in an Italian, Roman Catholic Family. The article stated although he was from the Silent Generation, he resonated deeply with the Generation X Generation.

Most underrated song in their catalog. Jimmy’s bass lines and Tony’s keyboard work is so melodic, it allows Ritchie to really stretch out and play so beautifully. Cozy’s drumming and rhythms are so imaginative and great and Ronnie’s vocals are as great as ever.

Some of the heaviest and most emotional playing i ever heard was on this song. Jimi screams blues on his strat, and Blackmore screams classical on his strat. And along with Jeff Beck, the strat covers just about everything, every style. Cozy was awesome on Still I'm Sad, but now Ritchie is climbing putting every note in it's place he's phenomenal!!

This live version is a pure masterpiece, I never changed my mind about it. Ritchie Blackmore and Ronnie James Dio were in a state of grace. Power and subtle delicacy all in one piece whose studio version seems almost pale in comparison, even though it's basically a beautiful melody. I wish there'd be a video of this particularly version... Blackmore had a marvelous sound at this time, quite different from his in Deep Purple the solos are incredible, as are the gentle bits, and Dio sang so well...

(On Stage was recorded in 1976. It might have been released in 77? All the live shows were from 1976. So technically it's a 1976 album. It was before Long Live Rock and Roll came out. Which was 1977 and featured new members David Stone on keys replacing Tony Carey, and Bob Daisley on bass (replacing the late Jimmy Bain) and backing vocals. Which Ronnie rarely allowed live. Anyway. I believe Rainbow Rising and On Stage were the only two consecutive Rainbow albums to feature the same version of the band on both albums. The live in Munich album was from 1977. The Long Live Rock and Roll tour. On Stage was in support of Rainbow Rising.)
