I wouldn't say it's a virus. A virus is something that puts a lot of harmful files on your computer and completely prevents you from doing anything. This game was just programmed the way that it putted some harmless text files on his computer and changed his desktop background with a scene of it which the game just exported it as a picture file. The fact that the game didn't let him use the task manager was also programmed in the game. All of those just lasted until the game fully finished. With a virus on the other hand this wouldn't be the case. Also if this was a virus he wouldn't be able to upload this video since the virus would've corrupted the file.

Nowadays everyone simply copies the same mechanics over and over again thinking they’ll be a star of horror gaming rather than creating something new or inventive. About 90% of .EXE games are, “Go right. Watch your character helplessly die. Insert jumpscare with an ear shattering sound. Rinse & repeat.” At least Luigikid found a couple that are awesome though with some mindfucks put in.
