Rainbow Six Extraction is a low point for Ubisoft. It's remarkable how little this title innovates over and above what already existed in Siege. This feels like a game that lost its way in development hell and is now just trying to recoup its development cost with an unjustified price tag.

Yes… If I recall correctly, he had just finished doing a mukbang collab the night before he reported Jesus for 30 pieces of clout. Supposedly Jesus’ channel was reactivated a few days later and its subscriber count has only grown as a result. The community seems nice, if not somewhat elitist at times. "This is a game that felt like it was stuck in development hell for years." Bingo. The breadth of control Ubi has over Siege as a license is spread so thin that this is one of the symptoms. A bunch of coders, programmers, artists, and more, running around like chickens with their heads cut off at the direction people who, from my experience, seem to be halfway involved in the project. I think the people on the ground have done what they can, and at the end of the day, want to get their check and pay their bills. What frustrates me is the corporate structure at which Ubisoft runs their games, which seems to be a top down issue as of late.

bruh, but u r actually right, I used to hate most of directors of this game, some designers even didn't play RB6S being working on the project, producers and features and vision and everyfuckingthing were changing instantly since production started. I had a burnout and was going out during more then 6 months after leaving the project. Even was thinking to leave the industry forever after this fucking trash.

I'm actually enjoying it. Maybe I didn't play enough Siege to have it cheapen the experience. This adds a lot of mechanics I've wanted from Rainbow Six the last few years. The set dressing being alien goo bs is completely irrelevant to me. MIA's, rescues, injuries? Perfect. Having quick strike mission with objectives and a strict time limit? Great. I'd rather this was part of T-Hunt on Siege, but I'll take what I can get. Also, it's totally cross platform. I want to shit on Ubisoft as much as the next guy, especially being a Ghost Recon guy, but there's a lot going on here that I see as a step in the right direction.

I used to really enjoy siege but its slowly become less and less fun as the average skill and sweat of players even in casual got higher and higher. As someone with a slower reaction time i couldn't ever hope to be competitive but playing with four friends and just doing stupid shit and getting a kill out of it once and a while was the greatest part in my opinion. Nowadays you just cant get away with stupid shit, like ever. My skill if anything has increased slightly but its almost impossible to kill anything without sweating my ass off and when i fail at THAT it makes me angry so the fun just kind of disappeared. (that and the hackers) But playing extraction i finally have a siege feeling game that i can play without being one tapped after being seen by an enemy for 0.01 seconds and having to wait out the rest of the round. At least i can REACT to a threat and do something about it in this not just instantly die.

I played Siege hundreds of hours and have really enjoyed Extraction. Just playing with a buddy that I also played a lot of Aliens: Fireteam Elite and Back4Blood with. I enjoyed it as nice change of pace to those games as this one has a stealth element and sneaking I have enjoyed and going loud is enjoyable too. I don't think it is a game I will be able to play for hundreds of hours but I have probably played 40 and enjoyed it.

When Outbreak launched as a Free event for Siege, I was one of many saying: "They could make a separate game with this." But after seeing the game on twitch and your review, I still think the game can work, but they pulled out all the great parts of the event. The event had a story within it, we were discovering how this alien/zombie thing arrived at earth. Apparently, the Event has more cutscenes and contextualization on the situation than the "main" game. The event had linear maps with sections that felt different. The event also had great moments with the story and the maps worked well. I'm saying this because even if we say that they already had a lot of technical elements, I cannot believe that they just ignored all the good stuff. Now I think it could just be a DLC for Siege, like the survival mode on the first The Division or like Zombies on Call of Duty.
@-dmm
@-dmm 2 жыл бұрын
the event on siege has no correlation to this new game. It was stated by devs. It was an idea, a seed, to create a brand new game similar to it. Most people complaining about the game are assuming this game was made and intended to be like the event. This game is not suppose to be the siege event.
@ArthurGazzi
@ArthurGazzi 2 жыл бұрын
@@-dmm Sorry ? No correlation ? Same characters, same enemies, same franchise, same studio. You are crazy. It's like creating a game with master chief fighting the covenant and saying that there is no correlation to Halo. The fact that they created a game using the same elements of a Rainbow Six Siege Outbreak event, automatically allows us to compare. But let's take this absurd point of yours as if it's true. Okay is a separate product (that they are charging $40 by the way) and is worse than a FREE event that had the SAME elements and objectives. They had it already DONE. Man, do you know what is to make a game with all concept ideas already done, models already done, community already established and most important feedback already received ? This game should have been one of the best Ubisoft has made in years. Not that I was expecting that, but I really liked what they did back then.

I really wanted this to be good and still hope they'll support it. I love siege but PvP has just gotten to competitive for me. Gotta say as an old school Tom Clancy r6 fan and a former XCOM player, I really enjoyed this game. Despite having aliens as the main enemies, it feels way more rainbow six and anything else I've played recently. Ubi looks pretty committed to updating this game with new, free content, so I can see it doing really well. Also, it's on Gamepass, which is just too perfect.

I'm in the same camp and even fired up Siege tonight. Ran one miserable game of T-Hunt (I spent nearly 25 minutes in queue), and a couple of regular matches. I much prefer extraction. It didn't help Siege's battlepass looked like a desperate cry for attention, not that I'd pay any mind to it anyway. It just looks like a game desperate to keep going when it's out of steam. Extraction, however, delivers on the coop I've wanted since Vegas 2.

I went into Extraction with low expectations and honestly kinda expected to hate it. I have game pass though so I gave it a go. My biggest negative of the game is just how hard it is to know exactly what to do, and the consequences can feel a bit steep at the beginning. But after watching a couple how to and tips videos, the game has grown on me so much more than I ever could have expected. The game is actually fun and pretty damn challenging. You do need a group of friends to play with and all have mics to communicate. Communication is 100% key in this game. If youhave Game Pass, go try this for yourself. Don't let other peoples reviews stop you from playing a brand new release included on Game Pass before seeing if the game is fun in your eyes. Even if you normally agree with Skill Ups opinion, I suggest trying for your self with a group with mics... The game will really bring teamwork to the forefront and I really liked that.

Great review but I feel you missed a couple points here and there. The main one being how bad solo playing is. You mentioned how the early difficulties are mind-numbingly easy but I don't think you realized just how bad they are for solo play. Since they effectively teach people you can just brute force your way through. This leads to people starting objectives alone and failing it for the team, when theres only you and other guy and they start the extraction when your away causing you to miss it and go M.I.A, or also getting the team overrun and causing everyone to go M.I.A which is the most frustrating thing to get punished by a dense teammate just for the next run another teammate to start your recovery against the tree alone and lose your operator again, repeat this process and solo can get annoying fast which caused me to uninstall this game before I even finished it

I always thought it looked like it wouldn’t work. I knew after playing the outbreak event in siege a couple years ago, I thought “this is fun”. But that’s all it was, just quick fun and a nice change of pace compared to its multiplayer. I always thought that the siege shooting and mechanics work well for the core concept, but the core concept alone. The shooting and movement is too tactical for it to work in a open setting. I know that the movement and handling speed has been sped up to try and increase the pace, but I personally think the issue with the game is the idea in general. It too often feels like a mask of another game shoddily stapled on that begins to fall the longer you play.

Most of your reviews are quite spot-on, objective assessment wise... the only part I personally take issue is when it comes to the "fun" portion... why? cuz fun is super subjective, and when a review is mostly based on one having fun or not, then a competent game might be as doomed as much as a garbage game might be praised, all on a taste basis... remember: Siege is a PvP game, and many people would love to play a PvE Siege just because they have no fun playing PvP... Anecdotal sure, but in my case, I happen to be having a lot of fun both playing solo or w/ friends, and believe it or not, even w/ randos... I've played the hell out of Rainbow6 Vegas1-2, since I was dying for a replacement, was super disappointed when Siege came out... while I do like and play PvP games, I just don't like the PvP offered on Siege, but I wouldn't say Siege is a bad game just cuz I don't like it... I do agree the "boss" encounters are simplistic and very mechanical, so, not very fun (maybe some fun the very 1st time)... and I agree this game will have a shorter life spam compared to Siege (unless they have a very tight and constant content drop), but honestly, I take no issue w/ that... I wanna play so many other games that are coming out, I'll move on when I'm no longer having fun... Just some food for thought: saying that 4 years (or whatever time) is too long for a given result is a worthless assessment unless you know how many people and/or what conditions the work took place, for most of the humanity fewer people will take longer to achieve the same common goal than a bigger team will... also people in general should stop blaming the "corporate overlords", and saying things like "..only if the devs were granted freedom we would have had a better game/experience..".. I work w/ automotive design (I'm both an engineer and designer by trade) and I can guarantee that sometimes "bad ideas" will slip through... sure it might have been a top-down design decision, but hear this: no corporate leader wants to bet on fail, and misjudgment sure is an issue, but to assume that the work-floor development-guy knows what will be a hit or a miss is just a naïve fair-tale like view of, well, everything really... May be time to grow-up (not only skill-up) and accept that not every game will please all/most gamers, and that the "..don't like it don't play it.." is actually an accurate/valid statement... stick to being objective, the subjective part we all need to figure out by ourselves, individually... cheers

As much as I'd like to hope the same, I feel like it's probably kind of over for Siege. Even if Ubisoft manages to genuinely innovate on the mechanics and refresh the extremely stale meta somehow, it's obvious that they simply do not have an answer for the cheating problem (which is ubiquitous in FPS games, but has hit Siege especially bad). The other fact that does them no favors is that there's now finally a bunch of other tactical shooters doing the rounds (RoN and Zero Hour for example), all of which better capture that serious tactical vibe that Ubi has increasingly shunned.

No music, memes or funny edits just pure facts. You can find more videos like this and see why I think too many games are scamming people and include online stores to scam more. In the last few years I was only excited for DMC5, Metro Exodus and RE Village. There are few other games that I haven't played like PC God of War or Horizon Zero Dawn. Games like this keep me happy but overall I can see people enjoy more shit these days.

I don't think bland is worse than bad. With bland you can always add seasoning. When something is bad, you have to toss it out and start from the beginning.

if a game is bland it wastes your time hoping for something interesting to happen. If a game is bad you figure out pretty quickly and refund. I'm inclined to agree with Ralph

It was surely a blast of a game while I played it, but as usual with these games, once you've seen it all, that's pretty much it. Only really good at this point if you have friends to play with you to spice things up from the monotony of the relatively barebones gameplay loop.

If game companies were the Seven Deadly Sins, Ubisoft is probably Sloth. Lazy, uninspired videogames built under the guise of once great IPs that they run into the ground. (If you were wondering about the other deadly sins): Pride - Rockstar Games Greed - Electronic Arts Envy - Bethesda Lust - Activision Blizzard Wrath - Nintendo Gluttony - From Software (the only good company here)

I gave up on Ubisoft when they rebooted AC. They love copy and paste ethics and for their open world games they believe bigger is better with meaningless bloat instead of a good story and substance. This game looks like it should have been a free dlc for Seige.

Ubisoft has a long history of taking really great games and remaking them into something weaker than the original rather than building on the strengths and adding the new features to make them even better. Thus, snatching failure from victory has been a common issue there as though they can not identify what made their successes successful.
@TheForbiddenOne55

Damn you hit the nail on the head. And it's mind boggling how they can't figure out what gave their initial ideas so much potential when there's no shortage of reviewers and KZfaqrs giving the good/ bad/ ugly of their time with a game. Ubisoft's issue is they're disconnected from their fanbase and really don't give a damn about customer feedback unless a game is a critical failure

calling this an "asset flip" is extremely untrue. There are hundreds of new assets and every mechanic carried over from siege was carefully tweaked to fit well into extraction 4:59 no, it adjusts for player count. 5:20 2 years after ~300 players play it daily and i can find a lobby for anything in 1-3 mins 6:49 r6 game stories were always bad. Though i agree Extraction was a perfect opportunity to do something neat kinda doesnt help you play like a bot in your recorded gameplay

Don't bother with ShillUp, it's obvious Ubisoft did not pay him enough for this review so he's just bashing the game without mercy due to his personal vendetta against the publisher. Extraction is pretty good, and this review is so full of lies and misinformation it physically hurts to watch for more than 5 minutes. Oh and the game is far from dead, there's still plenty of people in the matchmaking thanks to console crossplay. I wouldn't trust a single word that comes from this person, their track record speaks for itself.

At least Back 4 Blood had SOME kind of substance and difference in gameplay, and is fairly enjoyable in it's own right.
