Recently I found this sweet modification for my Toyota 4Runner. They are called ceiling nets. They mount on the ceiling of your truck or SUV and offer a place for additional storage. Originally I was going to make my own with the help of my wife until I discovered there was actually a company that made them. So I ordered one and here is the installation video.
I love to support local small businesses. Raingler is a small business located out of Colorado. It's good to know I am supporting a USA made product. It was relatively easy to install in my vehicle and only took 1 hour. Now to put it to the real test of actual usage.

We just made 4 of these out of paracord...just about install. I may steal some of the mounting ideas.

Looks nice. I have a 1999 4Runner and that would work well for us I think. Do you think you could mount the footman loops outside the plastic trim and use longer screws to hit the holes you drilled? That way you wouldn't have the issue with the straps pulling the trip away from the roof.

Personally I like that I can remove this net and there is no damage to the stock interior. I certainly think your proposal is possible. The trick for me would be making sure the screws were the correct length.

Honestly, I picked it up used off the classifieds. It wasn't super quality but it was awesome for what I used it for. Firewood, camping gear, luggage for trips, etc...
