Upgrade path by 3d companies should be the way instead of always pumping out new models for more money constantly. It's like the PC gaming industry. Give us machines we can upgrade for more performance and experience...just saying. Not everyone can shell out $200 to $1000s for a new 3d printer.

@@crussty3d I do agree the upgrade may be expensive, but compared to an Ultimaker or Makerbot, it has a similar or lower price with the upgrade, higher performance, and Qol features. I have an E2, and I would totally pay 1000$ if they make an upgrade like this for it.

For the raise 3 pro, the kit is $999 for - An Upgrade Letter (instructions I think) - Software upgrades - Two Hyper Speed Hot Ends 0.4mm - A Hyper Speed Auto Calibrator (According to Joel is an accelerometer) - 1kg of Hyper Speed PLA - 1kg of Hyper Speed ABS Seems like a lot for 2 hotends, firmware update, a $5 accelerometer, and 2 kg of filament.

Both hotend are $200 each, so $400 total. Each roll of filament is $36. For a total of $72. With no bundle discount you are paying $528 for: - Upgrade Letter (likely instructions) - Software (cost of implementing an open source firmware... so the R&D cost is here) - hyper Speed auto calibrator.

While I agree companies using open source is cool, it needs to be a 2 way street, and the companies really need to give back. Raise having their stuff closed source goes against it, and while it's understandable it seems like they should be doing something more. Given the results, the company is really benefitting from the work, so now the community needs to benefit also.
@cenciende9401

They are? A high speed upgrade for the printer they own... Klipper already exists, what, you expect Raise3D to make their own fork and release that? WTH do you expect from them? WTH do you think the point of open source is? It is free to use and implement and modify with nothing expected in return, that's the whole point.
@davehlewis
@davehlewis Жыл бұрын
@@cenciende9401 Open source isn't just free - it's meant to be a way to democratise things. Making use of open source is useful, but things only get better if more share back. Of course I'm not saying Raise should fork, that would be ridiculous. I'm saying Raise should maybe think about open sourcing some of their own work to aid the community that has helped them. You say nothing in return - open source dies unless things are given back, not just code etc. but funding for teams that build these things.
@i-tested
@i-tested Жыл бұрын
Totally agree. If you are making a printer and selling it for $4.5k claiming it is better and keep it closed source until you realize that it is sub par with competition and jump on the open source then, you should definitely give back to the community. Either by providing donations, or contributing to the code base, or making some of your claimed innovations open source. It is a camp out if you turn to open source when you realize you are way behind competition.

That moment when you realize somebody is being paid to promote gear that is overpriced and underperforms. JUST the upgrade to add Klipper (which is freeware) costs $999. This Raise 3D printer is $3999 for a grand total of nearly $5000. A P1P trounces this thing at $699 in quality, speed and value. TROUNCES. Klipper has been around for a while, and companies are only interested in it now because Bambu has forced their hand. Wait until Bambu releases a bigger and a smaller printer. It's all over...

glad you had the models printed with the same filament, as the ones lacking the hyper tech, because I am guessing something in the filament of the new helmet caused it to look like a rougher layer lay down print, as it looks a bit ripply like the head of the printer is being wobbled by say over excitation of movement that reverberates instead of being dampened before squirting out the plastic,

It's hard to tell on a video but I thought the HyperFFF parts looked to have more wobbles, which being spatially coherent would mean oscillation or otherwise inconsistent stepper motor steps. When they're spatially incoherent it's typically an extruder gear not running true with the motor axis. I wish the helments had both been printed in the same filament and we could've gotten some really good closeups. This seemed a bit rushed and not really a good comparison.

That's better than before but it's still far from Bambu Lab print speeds. The only thing the Raise3d has going for it is its bigger build volume which can accommodate a full size helmet. For comparison on the Bambu you'd have to shrink the helmet by 20% so it'd fit, which would then print in about 17 hours 24 minutes using ABS with all default settings. We need to add back 20% time (3.4H) to compare apples to apples, but let's be generous and add back 25% time instead (4.25H) and the total print time would still only be around 22H. Far less than a day. Raise3D and other manufacturers still have a long way to go.

I bought the N2 plus when it came out. I met the CEO at Maler fair and sold me on the printer for it's reliability. From the day I bought the printer, to today, I am still having issues.. I have bought and upgraded parts, replaced parts, adjusted and readjusted everything I was told to, and still can't reliably print anything. It's been very discouraging and upsetting to have now spent over $7000 into this printer and I still get prints that fail even during the raft. I have used many other smaller and cheaper printers, and have no issues, I use printers at work, my friends have printers that I have helped them set up and get working. But I was delt a lemon, and it's frustrating that with as much as I have spent, I still don't have a printer at home that I could trust for even a 12 hour print. Their customer service for the longest time was just that I should buy new parts and new upgrades, not what you want to hear after dropping over $5k on a new printer.

Then suddenly a few disruptors get out there, and all these manufacturers of over-priced printers suddenly think "Oh, maybe we'd better actually do something innovative to earn market share." I sincerely hope that they all suffer brutally for their laziness, and are forced to push the boundaries MUCH harder to stay relevant. A price and tech war is precisely what consumers need.

This seems odd to me. I don't remember spending a huge amount of time tuning my printer for speed, but a benchy at 0.2mm usually only takes around 45 minutes here. Then again my prints usually fall on the adequate for what I'm doing side of things rather than being super smooth.
@az3dip

The printer is good. But due to the fact that you have to use ideamaker, a lot of time is spent on setting up printing. And a lot of material and time for support. Tried to create a profile for Prusaslicer, but a lot of things don't work (resuming printing, changing filament...). And the E2CF printer generally turned out to work ONLY with ideamaker, and ONLY branded PA12CF and support material. And a lot of settings are blocked.
@Raise3D
@Raise3D Жыл бұрын
Hi there, thanks for your comment. Good news that it isn't only branded material. We actually have a lot of templates added for 3rd party materials. ideamaker.io has 60 templates available for the E2CF including 3rd party filament manufacturers including FiberThree KEXCELLED eSUN Jabil Kimya BASF Polymaker and more.
@az3dip
@az3dip Жыл бұрын
@@Raise3D "Cannot import the slicing template into Raise3D E2CF printers" It's horrible. When you can't print your favorite material on the printer. I need to print let's say a simple petg, but I can't do it. I can't create a profile for it, I can't download a profile for any petg, and I can't change an existing profile to fit my needs. It seems to me that in the name "Open filament program" the word "Open" is superfluous.

Crazy question.. the Raise3d printer is like $7K.. and the hyper upgrade another $1K. Is this printer really 4x better.. let alone.. 1x better than say.. a Voron for $1K, or X1CC for $1500? Given that even with the upgrade it prints about the same as the X1C/RatRig/Voron.. why would anyone pay 4x more for the same results? Do they offer lifetime filament as much as you want and nozzles and free parts.. or.. ??

Don't believe. Reviewers go nuts over a 30 minute Benchy on new super fast machines like the P1P, you're not doing 5 mins printing at 1000mm/s speeds

Not bad but how much does this cost to do? A sonic pad has my Ender 3 Max running better quality and much faster. Benchy is down to 45 minutes and its still super accurate and print in place parts work as well as before.

kinda sucks that Hyper is being used here when I am working on a print head that will literally turn a 180 minute print into a 1.6 to 1.8 minute print, so what is that speed increase going to be called if hyper is being used for just doubling the speed, and halving the time?
