Next time your using the grinder while wearing a hoodie, PLEASE tuck the strings into the hoodie instead of letting them hang down. BIG safety NO - NO there. If they caught, that grinder would climb the strings to your neck. Be safe, Jeff

next time you have to do this 1:30 use a air gun on the edge of the nut and it will spin the nut as long as the threads are good and clean

File the ends of the all thread rod, it makes them less likely to cut you and makes it easy to get the nut on. Some people use the side of the grinder wheel, but on a cut off wheel it thins the sides too much and makes the disc more likely to come apart on you.

4:50 you can use your speed square to run the saw up against to hold the straight line while you cut, turns out pretty good.

When connecting the boards it would probably be a good idea to use angle iron and run it into the cement wall as well

Your dad is a great resource for finding ways to help shorten and improve methods on the farm, no doubt from years of experience as well as a sharp mind. Fast nut tightening, take your drill with whatever you have in it, take a short piece of pool noodle or old pipe insulation and rubberband or tape it around bit. Make sure its tight around bit and can turn in drill. Run that against the nut and it will tighten or loosen fast just reversing direction. Hope that helps next time.

you can cut the rod, then 45 the ends with the grinder at the bur. As long as you grind away the bur the nots will spin right on.

Cut the threaded rod with a bandsaw and spin it (maybe 180°) while cutting that will prevent the thread from getting messed up. Obviously do the best with what you got! Haha

I know you probably have a mill file. That would clean the burr off those threaded rod and you’d not have to waste time screwing on the nuts. I made 36 24” rods for holding my welding table tight while welding. I too, did not want to have to thread on soo many nuts….mill file for about 4 strokes on the burr and good to go….thanks for all your hard work and time and love to your animals.

Good thing you fastened the bench down lol. A good way to square those boards quickly is to use your speed square as a fence for the saw, just saves marking.

Just a comment seeing you work in your shop. Since you guys cleaned it up, it really looks nice and well organized. Great job. Hope you guys work at keeping it that way. Maybe a heavy plastic tie-rap would work way easier and cheaper. They have some big strong ones. Try a electrical material supplier or McMaster-Carr

You know if you round that off take that grinder and just round those edges off and it'll take that burr off then you don't need a nut Just a little machinist trick Just turn the grinder on and roll that treaded rod around it

Chamfer/bevel the end of the threaded bar and you won’t need to waste time running nuts down the thread. The nuts will slip right on and there’s no sharp edges from a bare cut

That’s how I make any unbolts I need it’s so much cheaper

i use a speed square as a saw guide. have a giant one for larger cuts

When I cut threaded rod I just round the end off on the bench grinder, no trouble getting nuts on and off after doing that

That is a lot easier to do. Put the treaded rod in your drill and put the nuts in the visegrip. 2 seconds - they just fly on the rod

If you ever half to do that again put the ready rod in a drill chuck and spin it and after you cut the rid to length grind the end at a 45 before removing removing the nuts

Hello Eric hope your having a great weekend and your weather is warmer than ours. Have you ever thought about taking your bull calves and making them steers and feed them out and sell them as drug free home grown beef. Basically all you would need is a waterer round bale feeder and a self feeder and isn't there a empty pen at the other farm you rent. I have a buddy who sells drug free beef and your making money and your customers love your beef vs store bought and know what they are getting just a suggestion as Mike on Our Wyoming life are increasing the numbers they feed out this year as there is more demand for home grown beef and jerky they sell through there farm store. Everything in there store is either raised or grown on there ranch along with homemade pies and they have honey also I believe.

I always thought cows are some beautiful creatures
