Menaka Guruswamy is correct. Other panelists have not really read the judgement. Reading down of Sec 377 is much more than privacy issue. It's also about equality and making LGBTs equal citizens like others. A judge said, 'I am what I am and take me as I am'. He is taking about acceptance of variant sexual orientations of people. So it'd not just about sex which was criminalised. People also saw LGBT people through the lens of their sexuality. So this Judgement is much more than what other panelists are saying. (Rahul Easwar is a dumbo, forget about him)

No one is technically adversarial here. But Guruswamy needs to learn some sense of propriety for this kinda debate. She thinks, she is the only educated & inform person here on the strength of her personal involvement in case, the rest knows nothing about the case.

The society should adopt this LGBT community... I think panel missed this point completely.

Don't invite Rahul Eeswar to this kind of discussions. He comes with a point and never hear what others has to tell.

One of the distinguished judges said, "History owes an apology to LGBT people". Looking at some of the people on this show and reading some of the comments below, my reaction is, "How true"! The blessing of ignorance is heart-numbing.

At 13:03 Hats off to Mr Frank for being so wise in not allowing hurtful comments to be passed in show he anchors. I really appreciate this aspect of his personality to quickly put water on sparks which potentially can be fire... His parents and friends and even Indian Media is so LUCKY to have such a wonderful anchor in our country... I see his name already in History books of our future...🙂

More than right to privacy or equality, the case was about right to dignity. Dignity of an individual's life should be protected by law at any cost.

"say no to homophobia" he said before basing his arguments on homophobia enabling jurisprudence used by the colonial law givers.

The point of a debate is to have all views, opinions and aspects related to the verdict up for discussion. Not just about the verdict and its impact. I think Meneka Guruswamy needs to understand that whatever she had fought for over the years, is exactly what she is denying to other panelists- to be heard, to hold a variant opinion and to be tolerant.

really dissapointed to watch the pseudo intellectual rahul easwar in this wonderful show. He is already overrated for his conservative opinions on the sabarimala issue as well. He himself is a deviant individual as seen from some shows that he participated hence kindly bring in distinguished guests only . Its a absolute disgrace to LGBT community and to common people to hear the venom that he spits out from his mouth. Btw sai deepak is a gem of eloquence.

Rahul separating LGBT debate and equality is absurd. Because LGBT discrimination is the birth of inequalities. Also, he point out it should be based on science and not constitutionality, did he know what he is talking about?! Yes, are entitled of our opinion, but citing opinion based on unprofound facts should be corrected.I am glad Menaka point that out.

Rahul easwar is very rightly quoting the real situation in society but...no one's taking him in the right way..... though court has' very rightly ' decriminalised section 377 , our society is still not accepting LGBTQ persons as normal and equal citizens......sc has done it's part....and now the ball is in our(society s) court...... and we have to work for....social acceptance of LGBTQ persons......but if we are approaching the society (with deeply ingrained traditional ethos) with arrogance.....then society will react....with more hatred towards LGBTQ Persons.....so we have to keep in mind all this 'ground situation' and will have to work accordingly......so that LGBTQ persons are gradually accepted by the whole society as equal citizens (which is their birth right) ......this is not end but just the beginning of the war....the war of us with deeply ingrained intolerance in ourselves.....so lets fight it out together.....to give our LGBTQ brothers and sisters the place of dignity in our society which they deserve very rightly 🙂 - Akshay ugale

The recent supreme court judgements expose the legislative lethargy in our democratic system. The naction of the parliament in such issues have forced the people to resort to judicial activism to get rid of ills of society. This could have been done by legislative action but politicians will play safe to vote banks and leave important legislative actions to the courts who are not bound by public opinion.

What about SC delivers decision only on the touchstone of constitution disregarding the social morality and then society fails to implement it or concur with it which can lead to social disharmony?

These videos are still relevant , why are they not organising such debts in Sansad tv in the english language ?

It's not all about guts , it's like "making hay while the sun shines" - when it comes to human wisdom . The honorable SC does it so often to prevent the unnecessary chaos in society. After all it's society consensus that needs to be considered. If constitutional touchstones are put forward every now and then there are n number of cases which can be delivered in very short period....

Disappointed with Rahul but then again did I expect anything different from this guy! Being a homosexual Indian, who had to flee India to be able to live my own truth, I have always been immune to intolerance and others' ignorance. Nevertheless, it is really disappointing to see that people still leverage on scientific evidence (or lack thereof) and ambiguity to justify a wrong point and further a 'selfish agenda'. While it is good to entertain divergent opinions and commentary, these need to be reasonable and justifiable (and verifiable, wherever possible). Above all, humanity, dignity and equality must be upheld at all times but not some manipulative tenet or a namesake, fictional and non-sense 'personal belief' in the name of some non-existent custom and tradition of the land. You do not need to understand and approve, if these are above your capability of comprehension. Your approval is not really needed, anyway. However, what is it to you for others to be not treated with the dignity they rightly deserve and for them (us) to be able to live freely without fear or feeling like an alien in their (our) own motherland and society? No hate! I hope you sleep well at night, Rahul? I also pray that you will be able to soon make your journey to light...Thamasoma Jyothrigamaya!
