I’m surprised with the few apprehensions.... 1)”justice delayed is justice denied “ phrase is satisfied here because of the judicial inactivism in the matter of Aadhar during the 2012-13 when the massive implementation of the project has taken place even when the ball is in court. 2) How far is it correct to proceed with underlying cause just because of spending huge amount of resources and infrastructure the judiciary has bent to the decision to go ahead with the larger public good ? For god’s sake where is the so called due process of law ( fair, reasonable and just legislation) 3) The future implications of bypassing the rajyasabha and misusing of Art110 (g) by the ruling majority in Loksabha ? 4) Future of the data which is collected and exploited by the corporates of the day? ..... by a UPSC aspirant

I fully agree with Nikhil Dey. My grandmother can't walk and her pension is also stopped just because she don't have Adhaar Card is violated their rights to get their money. Also in my vicinity Ration card holders also faces the same problems sometime machines are not working and sometimes finger print don't match. What's the alternative for these destitutes?

Nikhil Dey feels hard done by, doesn't he?! Ground reality is a whole lot different for the lower class wherein proper infrastructure hasn't been properly implemented. Alternative to Aadhaar is what he proposes while the points made by other panelists are some of the best you'd hear from anyone. Great debate!

Frank doing a stellar job as always! The balance in this discussion is phenomenal- financial implications (shell companies point was compelling), on ground realities (localized biometrics point was great), the issues of Aadhar being passed as a money bill (only Justice Chandrachud addressed this!)- they've covered everything and more so beautifully. Especially appreciate the respect panelists have for each other's opinions on this show, they disagree (lots of head shaking from Mr Nikhil haha) and agree on different points, but maintain focus on the central issue so professionally. Wish all news debates were this easy on the ears lol. We would do well to follow Mr. Deepak's career, he's definitely going places. Love how honest he was about not having studied the judgement fully, but still so many amazing points!

Good debate, refreshing change from the shouting & screaming that takes place on " Mainstream " news channels; here every panelist made his point politely & did not interrupt the others Well moderated by Frank, as usual. I think Mr Malhotra & Mr Bhattacharjee were more balanced in their analysis of the impact of the judgement. Mr Deepak was a bit too much taken up with the basic question of the constituionality ot it being passed as a money bill ( he's a lawyer after all ) which was responded to well by Mr Malhotra, & Mr Dey was harping a lot on ground reality etc which was countered well by Mr Deepak. Even tho Aadhar was conceptualised primarily as means to ensure better transfer of Govt benefits to the poor, why should its potential as the best method currently available to establish an identity be not fully used? Lets acknowledge that India is ridden with corruption - fake / multiple identities, fake companies, fake/multiple bank accounts, fake pension accounts, fake/ multiple PAN cards, benami property deals/ registrations, fake voter IDs of people not entitled to vote etc etc. If a better way exists of weeding out such crimes based on fake identities , I'm not aware of it. We've tried for 70 years & no better way has been found. By all means lets try to plug loopholes to prevent misuse & improve its implementation & not limit its potential to fight the curse of ceime & corruption.

We need more people like Nikhil Dey who brings geniune implementational lacunae. We certainly need to address these issues but not at the cost of declaring the whole act itself as unconstitutional.

I would like to see another debate on this issue, hopefully which won't be marred by the exigencies of time.

All the panelists put their views very well. Intentions behind the Adhaar are commendable and till now it had worked very well if benefits of masses are considered. But there are many implementation procedures which need to be worked out smartly so that no one suffered because of technical issues and lack of services. Constitutionality of Aadhar as a money bill will remain in question. On summing up the discussion it can be said that smarter solutions should be there to fill the lacunae in the implementing procedures. Data & privacy protection laws should be strengthen. There should be a golden path to overcome the reservations of people and government which can be achieved only by constructive discussions and better implementation.

Nikhil Dev ,sir your absolutely making out words of poor...who are struggling,even today the mistakes made by entry operator regarding DOB of cardholder...the cardholder catching roads sweating to get it corrected...

Yes it is true that the ground level implementation has to be addressed carefully.But I do not understand how data will be protected from the private firms.As you all know most of the technologies used by government flagship programmes like banking,passport services,railways etc., are under the control of private firms like TCS,Infosys etc.,

Very good discussion On Aadhaar My suggestion on aadhaar implementing government should use aadhaar Bar code instead of fingerprint We can easily give benefit to those who have aadhaar and cannot access through fingerprint.

The biometric check should not stop due to lack of infrastructure. Keeping biometric check and improving infrastructure is the correct way to run a system :) Bharat net is 1 such scheme that will help push biometric check for so that money is only transfered to desirved citizen.

I think if biometrics not working,person should be allowed the to avail the benefits by producing hard copy of aadhar card along with some other document like election id or pan card,so as to verify the identity of a person. Its a simple solution where internet connection is not working as well. No one should be denied his right to life as rightly pointed out by Mr.Nikhil Dey, because of some operational issues in the scheme of Aadhar. Nice debate. Tnx rs tv.

Overemphasis on the 'welfare' aspect of Aadhar, other imp issues like data privacy, national security, money bill ,commercial aspect etc. should have been discussed more!!

its vital to discuss the constitutionally validity of AADHAAR , so that govt. scheme should be go to the individuals.

Adhaar Number link should be made voluntarily included to educational certificate to reduce the duplicates, secondly Bank accounts should be attached under strict security of chain. link with passport, gas connection ration card bring in transparency with secured system .

They left out an important point point i.e the striking away of adhar authentication for a new sim card or telephone. This requirement is a must to prevent the use of fake identity sim cards as most of the crimes nowadays are traced using the identity related with the sim card or phone no.
