I feel this mom’s frustration. While my kids no longer take the school bus I HATE seeing this so much especially when you hear about children being killed because of it. One day I swerved to prevent a car from doing this. He didn’t hit me. He slammed on his brakes. He almost hit me but I was willing to take the hit. Luckily children had not exited the bus yet.

If you throw an egg at a car and it hits the windshield. You could actually blind that driver and he WILL hit somebody.

In NYC school bus drivers will park the bus across both lanes, blocking all traffic in both directions so kids can load/unload.

Just an idea, why don't we equip the buses with speed cameras that become active when the stop sign on the bus is deployed catching all the vehicles plates that pass slapping them with 1k fines, once the public is aware the yellow buses are equipped with these cameras I'm sure it will lower the rate of violators.

this is where my idea should come into play: something that slides out from under the bus and flips up to block other lane of traffic.

The school busses in our neighborhood all position the bus across both lanes at every stop. That way, there’s no room to drive by the bus. Pretty smart actually.

When the police say its not enough for us to put up a blinking light bc their hasn't been any deaths reported, its time to leave asap.

If you want to control this crime, if you get a license plate number, you can impound the vehicle for 30- days and have the owner pay the return fee. You may not get the perpetrator but you will remove the vehicle from the road for a time. This will get the owner to give up the driver of said vehicle if they were not the actual person behind the wheel.

There is NO excuse for passing a stopped schoolbus with lights flashing. NO EXCUSE, NONE, NOTTA!!

Buy a big, old truck for $500. Park it at the end of the drive. When the bus pulls up, pull your truck across the road to block it. When the bus pulls away, back into your driveway.

I'd be real careful about throwing things at peoples cars in general. They may come back around and start shooting at you.

Have the Bus driver block both lanes. Or have volunteer escort drivers who will block the other lane.

"Not high enough accidents for a yellow blinking sign", that's the sucky thing. The DOT won't install stuff unless something is either busy enough or has enough accidents, even with things like signs at intersections or crosswalks.

But there's lots of factors here; School Bus stops are where the speed limit is too high, no warning so catching drivers by surprise, also we're all aware that kids are taught to look both ways, so with that in mind maybe drivers assume they will be doing that - otherwise, it's kind of a contradiction (Just sayin what might be going through a driver's mind).

Throwing an object at someone's car makes her just as wrong as they are. It's illegal and can cause an accident and she could actually be held civil liable and be sued

Throwing eggs is a good way of identifying a culprit as they may stop to confront the mother, who now has the plate number and the driver's physical description recorded to provide to LEO. On the flip side, there's always a chance, however slight, that it could also cause a wreck and the possibility exists that she could be found culpable in civil court.

Yes the drivers are in the wrong for not stopping for the school bus and they know they are supposed to stop for the bus. But just because the motorists choose to step out of line doesn't mean we need to stoop to their level. On one news investigation I remember when someone stepped out of line, they called the police and the law enforcement accused the news cameraman of "video harassment". I am sure by now once these motorists had their picture taken are pretty provoked.

I'm a school bus driver, and my solution is that we should be allowed to keep a couple bricks nearby and huck them out the window at the windshields of cars that run the stop sign. I'll have to try suggesting eggs to my boss, I like her thinking. If someone wants to get out and start shit over the eggs, I also have a tire thumper next to my seat.

Throwing eggs? Smart, respond to a crime with a different crime. I've never driven past a school bus with red lights flashing, but if she hit my car with an egg by mistake, I'd beat her ass for it. That's a stupid non-solution to a problem police should be handling. If someone has such little regard to begin with, its not a stretch to imagine they may shoot you over throwing an egg at them.

If a car blows the flashing red lights and hits ALL six children at the stop and still keeps on going without slowing down a single second, just press charges of attempted vehicular manslaughter and see if they learn their lesson in prison. On second thought, if a motorist drives past the bus with the flashing lights on, there oughta be a stiffer penalty for such an offense. How about a six-month suspension of their licence and a microchip placed in the car(s) that monitors the driver's speed 24/7? That will get their attention.

I have a solution to make car stop for a stopped school buses allowed the school bus to have spike strips on both sides of the bus as soon as the stop sign comes out the spike strips comes out and for people who can’t follow the rules of the road and stop for a school bus gets 4 flat tire😭😱😢 😂🤣😭

speed limit is 45mph. that means drivers are doing at least 50. maybe some flashing lights and speed limit changed to 25 can help.

Have you ever seen a child get run over by a speeding car just because there a holes who don't want to stop for a school bus! I drive a school bus and I drive a busy road that a holes don't stop for my kids. Do like I do stop sideways in the road! Oh and if you get caught running a stop sign in TN its a 1000 roller fine.
