I've always found rally tires to be insane. they take unlimited amounts of beating and rarely ever puncture.

Some new formula one cars are reducing the paint in a weight saving effort, although F1 has a minimum weight which means that they can usually hit it without resorting to that kind of crazy weight savings.

Yeah. An average size car, lets say family saloon would have about 3kg of paint on it. Why not put paint sonze there is minimum weight anyway? Cause you can put something useful for those 3 kg

Look into the Silberpfeil. It wasn't meant to be all shiny and bare metal, they just ended up there by removing the paint to save weight!

They’re probably smaller so they can move up and down a lot and not hit the body of the car.

@@matttondr9282 well mostly to fit larger off road tires, plus smaller wheels weigh less. Iirc the inside wall of those tires is designed to be able to continue driving while punctured.

The wheel is Sparco but it has Fanatec module to control the battery since the new rally cars are hybrid It will be sold to simracers as Fanatec Podium Button Module Rally

@@redbull hey air scoop works for me. Lots of times the not name is better than the real name. Like I'm always calling the fuel petcock the fuel tap.... I think British might already do that. Idk. Makes more since to me. But yeah that scoop was my favorite part, the big wing was cool too. Have a good one.

Also Rally 1 cars just have the appearance of the IRL cars. They’re basically silhouettes with absolutely different body structure. So it has only the name and the lights lol

Modern Rally cars don't even have the same chassis as their road going counterpart, the bodywork is just made to look similar but underneath they are very different

Ok so, it's the same as my car? 1. Made of metal 2. has suspension with the springy things 3. has wheels 4. has a little table sitting on the trunk/boot that I like to eat off of 5. has stickers 6. has no ac 7. has windows you can take off pretty easily with rocks(same thing as the stuff on the courses)

Indeed they’re built differently. Even though I don’t have a WRC Ford Fiesta M Sport, I do have a fully kitted out Peugeot 205 GTI Rally car. (Currently stripped everything out as the safety equipment needs to be in date.)

It’s actually pretty odd to see how the cars have such tiny tires on the dirt stages. On the asphalt they have bigger tires that look more proportional, but those off-road tires are so small

Actual tyre diametre is not that different, the suspension is set far lower on tar, and the low profile tyres/big rims look bigger.

The tires are the same size as the tarmac ones. Of course the rim is definitely smaller, and the sidewalls are taller. The lack of grip in loose surfaces means they can use smaller brake discs, thus they can fit a smaller rim and taller sidewalls to help the suspension with big impacts. The wheels in this video look small just due to the massive suspension travel, and the perspective.
