I was wondering about that when they panned the engine bay. I didn't see the Aisin's dipstick which is located on the drivers side of the engine, right next to the Master Cylinder reservoir That's the easiest way to know if it has an Aisin or not. Ram 1500 Classic is a very “affordable” full size. Got the warlock variant last summer for low 40’s. It can only tow 5000 but it’s very large, the infotainment is surprisingly capable (I got the slightly upgraded one which has wireless CarPlay).

@@yanboa pleasantly surprised with it, the infotainment worked well, plenty of power for the street. My bro in law picked up a new Ram 1500 5.7 and he loves it; he didn’t want the GM 2.7 turbo even though he was a GM truck guy.

I rented a sub 10k mile 5.7 challenger and by god the transmission felt like it was dying at times

I recently bought a Ram HD and steered away from Ford because I didn't want a CP4 grenading itself and destroying my fuel system. One thing that disappoints me in the Rebel is 20 in tires. Just put 18's on there Ram.

Unironically, with the money saved going with the compact hatchback for commuting and general driving (plus saving on gas and maintenance), you could pay for YEARS of renting trucks for moving large outdoor goods, RVs or vans for road trips and towing, or sports cars just for fun. Plus, you'd actually be able to use a standard 2 car garage as a workspace or workout space AND car storage, since the car wouldn't take up the entire garage when parked inside. That being said, I'm sure everyone who buys these is towing horse trailers and cement every day, which the Mirage can't do. So there's that.

That setup makes zero sense. Diesels don't go in off-road trucks. You need a gas engine. This rebel is a really stupid truck. Just get the powerwagon with the hemi if you want an off roader or a 3500 Cummins if you want a diesel. End of story. Edit: not to mention the significantly reduced payload due to the Cummins in a 2500. A 2500 should NEVER be equipped with a Cummins due to that factor. You can actually tow more with a hemi 2500 than a Cummins 2500 due to the reduced payload from the Cummins. If you want a Cummins than you want a 3500.

@@username8644 The Rebel makes no sense with the Cummins. The Rebel with a 6.4 can tow almost 17k with a payload of 3k. I purchased one as I pull dump trailers that can be near that weight occasionally, and routinely 8k+ and needing to pull to dumps. This truck with the Cummins is just a look at me truck, that takes away the niche it's useful for. With the softer suspension the Cummins in this truck has something along the lines of a 1700 pound payload.

but this is yet another off road trim and one that is directly aimed at Ford's Tremor and the GM AT4X /Chev ZR2 HD. those have towing capacity that's 15 to 18k lbs. payload is limited on all 4 of those trucks vs their stock brothers, if payload is your biggest concern then look at the non off road versions of the 4 trucks.

@@username8644 that's simply not true. payload and towing are both reduced in the PW, so as a truck.. the Rebel beats it. regardless both are offroad trims of the standard 2500 which beats both of them for what a traditional truck would be used for.

Any Cummins 2500 has a significantly lower payload and because of it actually tows less in the real world than a hemi 2500 since the trailer will pull down the rear end too much due to the reduced payload from the Cummins. So no matter what trim of 2500, never get a Cummins. If you want a diesel get a 3500, end of story. Now as for hemi rebel versus power wagon, the power wagon is the real off road truck, the rebel is a off road poser truck. Sure it can tow a bit more but it's not a real off roader at all. So at the end of the day just either buy a regular hemi 2500 to tow with or a 3500 Cummins, or a power wagon if you wanna off road.

I have a 21 Ram 2500 and average somewhere around 19 litres/100 kms on 87. I think that translates to about 12mpg. 15 would be a good day. :-)

Just get a 2500 hemi. Should tow it easily. Edit: otherwise you'll want a 3500 if you want to go with the Cummins but that's a significantly more expensive truck if you want a diesel. Also it's a significantly worse daily driver. A hemi 2500 can be daily driven pretty easily and it's actually comfortable and surprisingly quick.

@username8644 after much debating I'm ordering the updated silverado 3500 gas model. Dollar for dollar way more features than the ram, both are good trucks

A Cummins 2500 makes no sense since the payload is dropped so significantly you actually can't tow as much as with the hemi since the weight of the trailer will make your rear end sag too much. The rated towing capacity is a BS number. You can actually tow more with a hemi 2500 than a Cummins 2500. If you want an off road truck the powerwagon is a significantly better option, and it'll tow the same as this rebel. If you actually want to tow than get a 3500.

I actually doubt most of these will be, as someone who used 2500 and 3500 trucks, the compromises you make to drive this versus a normal 1500 are huge as is the cost of maintenance and cost of operation. I agree with 100% with you on 1500s though.

US office work tends to need heavy duty personal transportation, though, so it kinda makes sense.

Most of 2500 like these are bought for work, however that still means 1 person driving a bunch of places

My truck is my office. I need the capability of a 2500 and drive ~40k miles a year. As a business expense I can claim 25,000 as a tax deduction and get depreciation deduction. That's why there is a legitimate market for them. It makes the owner money, and the tax breaks. Spending 95k+ on a TRX or Raptor that's the absurd part. As there is no benefit to those trucks other than image and speed. Hard to make money that way.

It really sucks.
