24:58 For that shot of Rambo shooting the helicopter, the camera was set up behind heavy shield with an opening just large enough for the lens to see through, and Stallone was supposed to top up and fire his arrow towards the camera as fast as he could without taking time to aiming because he wasn't actually trying to hit anything, and they wanted it to look as quick as possible so that, in story, the helicopter pilot wouldn't have time to react. Stallone did as he was told, and by sheer blind luck, the arrow flew right into the expensive camera lens and ruined it.

I love most of Stallone's action films, from 1981's Nighthawks all the way to the recent Rambo: Last Blood. But I love how unapologetically over the top these movies get after the first Rambo. I love how grounded First Blood, and I love how bombastic and balls to the wall they end up. When this came out this, I was watching the Rambo animated show back when they had all the awesome Saturday morning cartoons. Rambo was missed throughout the 90's. His return in 2008 with the 4th film was long overdue. Can't wait for that reaction. That one is insane!

Rambo destroyed the truck first at the end of the movie because the 40mm grenade can't penetrate the armor of a tank, and Soviet gunships were also remarkably well armored. A truck would have been the next largest unarmored target that would create enough shrapnel to maim surrounding soldiers.

Yup. Mi-24 assault chopper, nicknamed "Krokodil" was also known as flying tank. It's, despite my hate for russians, a great piece of military machinery and polish army uses them as well till this day. Extremely well armoured and armed to the teeth it's no pushover. Very cute when your daughter walked in. So few things. The speech that was given was real. They used the exact words that were said in real life. Stallone's goal was to shed light on what Russia was trying to do to Afghanistan. So the US was a strong ally for Afghanistan but towards the end of the cold war rather than continue to show hostility towards the Soviet Union we stopped our alliance and that was that. Stallone always likes to shed light on events which is what the Rambo movies were pretty much. He wanted it to be more violent but studio would've allow it. When you get to the next Rambo movie that is when all the blood and guts comes out literally

The Helicopter gunship in this movie is the same one in the previous movie. It was a made up to look like a Soviet Hind but was actually a French/English designed Puma equivalent to the US Blackhawk. The wings, guns and extended nose were added to make it look bigger. This stunt helicopter and pilot were the background star of many 80s action movies, it was also used as a filming aircraft for in-flight scenes on many movies.

@@timmooney7528 just had a look at the clip of the ones in Red Dawn (1984 movie) and they are Puma as well, the first one on screen looks pretty close to a Hind A early model, the second one the nose is too long. Spetsnaz is a very general term…In Russian the word “Spetsnaz” is an acronym for “Voyská spetsiálnogo naznachéniya” or “Special Operations Forces” but it encompasses much more. It also describes task forces of other ministries (such as the Ministry of Internal Affairs' ODON and Ministry of Emergency Situations' special rescue unit) in post-Soviet countries.

The Cutest interruption ever. Most sports are base on Cattle or livestock theft. You move a leather-covered ball or object to a goal. The other team tries to stop you. Whether it be on horseback (Buzkashi, polo), or on foot (soccer, football, hockey), you have to get your symbolic animal to safety (the goal). Omar Shariff stars in a move about Buzkashi called 'The Horseman." For another movie about the Russian-Afghan war, watch 'The Beast.'

I love 3 of the 5 Rambo's. Unfortunately this isn't one of them. Interesting fact, whenever I watch this movie I am reminded of the book by an 'SAS' soldier 'seconded' to Afghanistan to train the Muhajadeen on US supplied missiles. He went up against that Russian helicopter. His friends were plowed under the dirt, and suffocated to death from the guns. He described an encounter with that helicopter as unsurvivable, without the US missiles.

To be fair, in response to Mr. Movies thinking Mrs. Movies thinking Rambo was gonna fight in the beginning with his c*ck, Stallone's very first movie was actually a softcore porno flick called Party at Kitty and Stud's, which was then re-titled The Italian Stallion after Rocky was a colossal hit. I'm just saying, the Mrs.' guess wasn't entirely outside the realm of possibility.

8:25 was so lovely moment! Another reason to being grateful to having such a wonderful cute babygirl! They say Afghanistan cannot be conquered. You have to kill every single one of them to make sure you succeed. Otherwise the last guy will find you for revenge. They never forget they never forgive. Plus Afghan people the most hardy folk. Even Rambo types cannot survive there single day in real life. In this movie they show afghans clumsy, naive and half wit. Actually even a small child knows every inches of those mountains. They know how to ride horse wildly, using bows and knives and guns since a boyhood. Anyway I still like this movie a lot. Take care

For the record, Football (all kinds, including American, association, Australian rules and rugby) are named so because you play them on foot, as opposed to Polo, a rich man's version which was played on horseback. 30:31 That scene oddly reminds me of a scene from a real life documentary I saw about independent photo and motion picture/video journalists who traveled to Afghanistan to cover the fight against the Soviet invasion and occupation because the mainstream corporate media was largely ignoring it. One cameraman was getting close up footage of a Soviet tank that had just been disabled, and he caught the surviving crewman bailing of hatch on camera. The Russian fell on the ground in front of the cameraman, and clearly frightened and wounded, he stretched his hand out to cameraman saying something (I presume in Russian). In the narration, the cameraman said "The man asks me for help, and I take his picture. This is war, my friend, and you have lost." It was cold blooded, but the journalist had lived among the Afghan civilians and had lost any sense of compassion for the invaders.

He doesn't help the Taliban. The Afghan leader is based on Ahmed Shah Massood, a pro-American leader who was murdered by the Taliban on September 10, 2001 (not a coincidence), and his son is now a resistance figure against them.

Yes, Stallone's blue eyes in Judge Dredd appear to be wrong. (Similarly, if you look at Paul McCartney's eyes these days his eyes are green. Yet in the early '60s they were dark-brown.)
