@@powerplay4real174 Same for me. My first knife was be of those knock off Rambo designs that were common in the mid 80’s. The one with the bulbous compass on the handle. I was 11 yrs old. A genuine Lile was out of reach lol. The only reason I knew Lile made the knife was because a local knife shop had one and a big Rambo cutout behind the case.

Thank you! I have received some snobby remarks because mine aren’t originals but I’m still happy to get my hands on quality replicas and under the Lile brand. Vaughn does excellent work. I’m glad you are happy with your Rambo 2. It’s my favorite of the collection.

@@Badhorsie_1 While it doesn't have the historical value of a genuine Lile, functionality it's probably even better than the originals simply due to being made of CPM154 rather than 440C as well as using modern technology. It's a beautiful, beautiful knife and I've seen it's also useable as well on John Hickok's channel. Seems like these knives are the ones still being actively made from what I've seen? Gil Hibben does have a website but I don't see the Rambo 3 or 4 knives for sale either in stock or as made to order, and Pohl Force hasn't seemed to make a new stock of Mk8s or Mk9's since the initial batch. Dunno if I'm simply missing something. Still, since Rambo 2 is my favorite Rambo movie, having this one is good enough for now.

Thank you. It’s still a work in progress. I have a Rambo 2 stiletto and a Hibben Rambo 3 stiletto in the works. Wall’s tubing choice is smaller in diameter compared to the Lile’s. I find it difficult to grip. Something to keep in mind if you order one.

@@markthompson8246 When I ordered, they arrived about 5 weeks later. I got the Cerekote series. I think the utility series may arrive a little faster. Last time I visited with Vaughn, he had a big back order. But he may be caught up. He is pretty accessible. Just email him through the Lile website. He answered me within a few days.

Thank you. As far as the slot I’m not sure. I have a theory. The knife by design is blade heavy. So I assume the slot and notches are for balancing. The notches on the spine have some symbolic meaning as well to his teammates from what I have read. I’m not sure if this is the knife maker’s perspective or fandom. As for the slot weakening the blade I don’t think it does so as long as the knife is used properly for its design. Even if you batoned wood it would hold up. I would worry more about the tang in the Hibben than anything else. That’s just my opinion. None of what I said is substantiated from use. She is a safe Queen who’s sees sunlight as often as a solitary confinement inmate.

Interesting thoughts. I believe you are correct I was just curious. No I wouldn’t use any of those knives, wouldn’t want to damage them. They are irreplaceable I imagine. Thanks for sharing. Again beautiful collection.

I recommend contacting the Hibbens directly. Their contact phone in on his website. Other than that you probably need to keep an eye on eBay or join one of the Rambo Knives Facebook groups and watch for them there. Those guys are really active on Facebook.

Thanks! I’m getting the Rambo 2 dagger from Lile Knives and the Rambo 3 dagger from the wonderful folks at Hibben knives. The Rambo 3 is a few weeks away and the Rambo 2 from Lile is going to be a long wait.

They are all tribute knives, if you want the real Jimmy lile made in the eightys knives you have to go deep in your wallet if you can get one, the compass that is easy to explain, they are not made anymore, the hibben is at least a original hibben eightys or not. Same story.. ... 🙏

It’s what Neely calls a “presentation series.” I think think that’s the point of Neely polishing the edges and trying to get as perfect on the fit and finish as possible. It is for an over the top display. I’m happy with it either way. At the time I ordered I was mainly interested in getting CPM 154 and thought Neeley was the only maker still producing. I just wanted me a/some Rambo knife/s!!! 😂

I have my knives in a dedicated knife safe. They are stored with moisture control packets that are rechargeable by heating them in oven. I store my knives separately from sheath always. I use Renaissance Wax on all my non coated and bead blasted blades. You could store them in a drawer the same way if you don’t have a safe. Aside from the Lile tribute knives from Vaughn I think the only way to get a tribute or an original is on the secondary market. Forums, collector sites and eBay. You could look at the same places for. Hibbens. Last year Linda Hibben said Gil and his sons were going to release a new edition of the Rambo 3 knife. I’m unsure if the plans fell through or they sold out quickly. I never saw it on their site but I don’t visit it often. And I am unsure about Pohl. But I have seen them on eBay every so often.

@@Badhorsie_1 The Gil Hibben Rambo knives were definitely available last year, as I looked at them on his site but unfortunately by the time I had enough money for one of these Rambo knives, his were long sold out. Don't know if there will ever be any more of those, which kinda sucks. As for the Pohl Force knives, I'll definitely check eBay. The price listed on his site honestly was surprisingly low. Seems like a CNC2 version was only $400-ish? Definitely could've afforded that if I had the opportunity to get them (couldn't at the time). Ah well, the Rambo 2 knife is my favorite, but I still would've loved to at least one knife from every major knifemaker who worked on the movies. I got a Jimmy Lile, so it would've been nice to have a Gil Hibben and Dietmer Pohl. As for storage, I do have silica gel and wax, as well as a drawer. Do you store your knives in the sheath? I hear it's bad practice to do that, but the sheath is the most natural place for me to safely put it in. If I use wax and the silica gel, would that make the leather sheath safe?

Which Lile original do you have? The First Blood or Mission? With the exception of my Rambo collection I have all carbon steel knives. I don’t ever store knives in their sheath. Not even kydex sheaths. If you are going to keep them in a drawer you could always wrap them in a single layer of parchment paper to keep them from scratching each other. I did that for years until I bought cases and a safe.

@@Badhorsie_1 Mission. Rambo 2. It's my favorite Rambo movie so naturally it's my favorite knife, too. Plus it's bigger. lol The other Rambo knives I'm interested in are the Rambo 3 Bowie (Rambo 4's probably a bit too big for me to store anywhere in my house) and the MK. 9 Heartstopper. And gotcha, that's kinda what I heard, too. Since this is, thus far, my only serious knife, I suppose I could put it in a drawer with the silica gel, though if I'm ever lucky enough to get more, I'll definitely try to get a waterproof case for it. I have them for all my firearms and with a lock and some silica gel, they hold up nicely.

@@gameragodzilla That’s awesome. The Mission is my favorite as well. I had Vaughn build me a cerekote gray one to look like the bead blasted version Jimmy released. It’s cool but the black on the movie version sets it off! Good luck with deciding your future storage solutions. Have fun with it. Every once in awhile I reorganize knives as an excuse to pull them all out and bask in their glory. LOL

After my first one the wait got longer and longer on the subsequent orders. About 8-10 weeks. That’s not that bad. Wish I was told 8 -10 weeks instead of 2 weeks. That would have made a world of difference on credibility of makers word. I was blown off a lot and I didn’t appreciate it. That being said, the knives are worth every penny and the long wait. Maker does incredible work and every knife came perfect. This maker does not cut corners.

@@Badhorsie_1 Thank you, I recently bought The 440c FB and was told it'll be done in 2 or 3 weeks but I assumed it would take longer than that. That put my mind at ease. This is The knife that any real collector/fan would try to get instead of the cheap Chinese knock off.

Definitely a nice piece for collector’s if they don’t mind putting forth the extra dough. For some it may not be practical. I sold off half my Busse collection to fund my Rambo knives. Glad I did but it was tough.
