Many years ago I would make things we called Spreaders for snaking logs out of the forest. I would use a tapered I.D. steel sleeve and 19mm Wire Cable and fray the end of the wire and pull it down into the sleeve. Then pour a resin into the frayed end and when it hardened it would never come out. I like what you made and might try to make me one. Thanks and super job.

It's a rarer version of a trench jack called a springjack, or a "micro-springjack" since it's telescopic. They are not legal with metal tips because of the sheer power of those springs. EDIT: you officially have a very unique paperweight as a conversation piece.

I never saw a practical use for these (legal issues aside) until I met an old biker (lets call him Jeff). He had tassels on his bar end maybe 10-12" long. One of the other riders happened to have one too many and not only singled out Jeff but in particular his leather tassels. One thing led to another and it tuned out one of the leather tassels had a 1/4" piece of cable running the last 8" or so and he had a quick release that had it in his hands in seconds. It was quite the formidable weapon.

I made one similar to yours, the handle is a piece of hard wood with a hole in one end. I put some clear gorilla glue in the hole then slid one end of cable in the hole and let the glue harden. I learned not to have the cable too long because if comes back and hits your knuckles, it really hurts.

A sword smithy I'm well acquainted with made something a lot like that as a very limited run. It was the same cable, but sword-length and hidden in a walking stick like a sword cane, as hiding a length of steel cable is a lot more legal than hiding a sword. Just the thought of getting hit with something like that makes me cringe.

That thing is F#cking lethal mate! Nicely done, I must try and make something like this in future just like that excellent trench club you made. One thing I've been thinking about lately is a chainsword. Also leaning towards a solar powered workshop for cheapness in the long run

Cool fact! Dad uses to hit me with a belt to dicipline me. As I grew older he'd go to a billy jack, then to one of these called a stinger. FYI -- I was an asshoel kid. So, one of these and we were straight on the subject. What hurt worse later on was him saying he was diappointed in me. Nothing hurts worse than that. But, Hey! I am super successful and kind to others to a fault now!

As a dare we made similar whip with my buddies, and we rolled dice on who gets to hit who with it. Full force on the back, with only t-shirt on. That was amazingly painful. There are no adjectives to properly describe the pain, but I'd label it as pure, crippling and brilliant pain. For some of us it took over year for the bruising to get off. The shot I took didnt luckily penetrate the skin, but for some people the tip of the whip went deep inside the skin. What on experience, I highly recommend testing it, as it hurts only for a minute or so.

When you were just about finished with the handle, I caught myself blurting out, "Oh, look at that, it's a dildo." 😆 Seriously, though, this weapon is a clear Brutalizer! It's amazing such a weapon is legal, considering the Devastation it's capable of! I have a fairly broad knowledge of weapons, but this one's new to me. 😳
