NO offense to the other dear people in his life but there seems to be that ONE person who knows you down to your soul or close enough that Freddie had that in Mary No matter who Freddie was with or his feelings for the person Mary was ALWAYS there . Same here. I was 9 during Live Aid and watched it at my Nana's house. I'd listen to their music when it was on tv or the radio but haven't given Queen much thought since. As a 42 year old now, and maybe disillusioned with the rubbishy 1 billion views of rubbish modern music, I'm throwing myself into anything that is Queen/ Freddie related. I've seen the movie twice in the last week and want to go again. I very rarely see a movie twice let alone 3 times.

but the details are all not what really happened thers about 4 things in the movie that are incorrect , as how freddy met the band he knew the bassist singer that quit and how freddy didnt not tell the band bout his hiv before live aid, they found out couple years later and how the band had recorded an album before live aid and had been on tour as not the way it was depicted in the movie, nothing major but still different
@deapll
@deapll 5 жыл бұрын
Rick Buk as far as I’ve heard and concluded from your comment, only the timeline of events that you mentioned is incorrect. And that I am willing to look past based on the fact that after all, this is a film, they had to make it more interesting and dramatic. It made so many people feel so many good things about queen,freddie and their history, let’s not bash that. Of course there could’ve been something different, but there is emotion which stays after watching this, that’s all that matters.

When my 86 year old mother said she loved the movie and was going back to see it again with her grandsons... That floored me. I saw it today, and now I get it. It's a gem! ALL the actors are superb, and Rami Malek is Freddie reborn. Just like the original critics of the flagship song were wrong, so are the movie critics here. It's extraordinary. I might have to follow my mother's lead and see it again.

I hope that you have watched it again Christine. I've lost count of the number of the times I've seen it. Being a HUGE Queen fan - from the first time I heard "Keep Yourself Alive" on Radio Luxembourg back in 1973 - (when I was 12), I was really worried about seeing "Bohemian Rhapsody and if the film did Queen "justice". My partner bought it on DVD and we both waited months & months, before I plucked up the "courage" to watch it. It was Fabulous. I'm sure even Freddie is proud of all the actors, crew, story etc. Rami totally deserved his Oscar. The rest of the cast & writers deserved an Oscar too! Christopher

I so admire Rami Malek for taking on this role, & giving it all he had. Casting Sasha Baron Cohen would have been a monumental mistake; it would not have been possible to take him seriously, & thankfully, the producers knew it & went with Rami instead. He seems like a good guy & a decent guy; Freddie Mercury was a complex person , multi-layered , & at times no doubt, difficult to work with , & Rami really pulled all of these parts of the man together; I admire him for giving this part all he had. He deserves Oscar recognition. -------------------------------------WolfSky9, 72 y/o

Ben, Rami, Joe and Gwilym was destined to be in this movie. First things first, Rami reminds me a lot of Freddie. Rami is like Freddie but as an actor? (Hard to explain, both are simply like each other in a way, personality). Joe listened a lot to Queen before the movie, in ''The pacific'' his dog was named Deacon and not only that Rami was in it together with Joe! (not only that, he looks very much alike to John). Gwilym, looks exactly and sounds exactly like Brian which is CRAZY, not only that he was born on the day Freddie died. Ben, born the year Freddie died and listened also a lot to Queen. They we're all meant to be in this movie. It's crazy.

Bohemian Rhapsody is a film that needs to be watched several times. Enjoyed it in the cinema, but when you watch it a second time you start to see some of the beautiful little details. Rami has not only played the part of Freddie, he has understood him body and soul. He portrays him in his magnificence and in his sweet, kind and sensitive manner off stage. Little nuances and the way he moves is beautiful. Gwylm IS Brian May. It's so incredible watching them interact. They have the dynamic of a tight knit band who are very different people that care about each other to a T. You almost feel like you have travelled back to the 70s and are listening in to one of the bands real conversations. Great to see the cast have a strong rapour behind the scenes too!

I thought Rami did an okay job given the circumstances, but I feel like I'm in the minority of people who were disappointed with this movie. It seemed to be told completely from the perspective of the band mates and in a way that cast Freddie in a really bad light and them all as saints. I mean they emphasized that Brian was an astrophysicist TWICE. Was that really necessary? Then they put various scenes in there about 'making sure everyone gets credit' plus a scene making it clear that Queen made songs without Freddie because he was 'unreliable and didn't give a sht'. Plus making out like his solo career was a bust. And don't get me started on the Mary Austin parts. Plus his persona in this movie made no sense to me. From all of the interviews and accounts people have given of Freddie I've seen up until this point, it made clear that Freddie was a really shy, sensitive and down-to-earth guy when he wasn't performing. In the movie, his persona didn't change 'off camera'. Also, Rami's attempt at a British accept was embarrassing. The prosthetic teeth looked ridiculous on Rami who already has a quite pronounced overbite himself. I don't get why they added it. I for one HATED the movie. It was so self-glorifying, corny and anti-Freddie Mercury - it made me cringe.

Outstanding actors, outstanding movie, Rami carried off one of the hardest roles to be ever given to an actor. Stuff the so called critics, they are out of their depth, this movie is critically acclaimed by Queen fans, ok there was some artistic lisense in the back story, but I for one could not take my eyes of Rami, his performance is amazingly outstanding, which will probably affect him for the rest of his life. Words alone are not enough, I was totally gripped, entertained, and emotionally rocked. Amazing...

I don't get the critics! Especially when they say the movie was too "positive". I felt an overwhelming sense of sadness after watching the movie. I felt a whirlwind of emotions. And yes, I also felt happy, proud and I laughed. But I don't think I will able to listen to Queen songs the same way. And for those saying it isn't completely accurate, I think the essence of the story is perfectly captured and conveyed by the actors. And that is in my opinion far more important than complete historical accuracy. The only thing I was a little disappointed with is that the movie, in my opinion, didn't show how articulated and intelligent Freddie was. All in all, a wonderful movie. Timeless. Highly recommend to watch this in cinema!

critics only like movies no one wants to see, I swear. This movie was so fun to watch. The music and the clothes, if you were of that generation that would really mean something. I loved how it looked like the members of Queen were having fun at times while recording. I wish it could have been longer. I would have watched a longer movie.

So true...the only thing I was disappointed is that they didnt capture how under pressure was made and the iconic contribution of david Bowie, since their focus was how the big hits were made...I wonder if that has something to do with the rights of the song since bowie wrote it too

My friends and I just saw this film last night. What an AWESOME MOVIE. It's the only movie that we have ever wanted to go back and see. And we ARE going back and bringing more of our friends. We lived through the Freddie Mercury and Queen era starting in the 70's! RAMI MALEK and GWILYM LEE should get at the very least Oscar nominations for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. I mean they ALL looked like their characters. I have NEVER been so excited and enjoyed a movie so much in my life. If you are looking for the deepest, darkest side of Freddie, you will be disappointed. It delves enough into that. If you want more than that then I understand why he hated the press. People are too nosey. All you need to know is that he was s loving, vulnerable, lonely, impatient, sometimes a prick, musical genius. I must say, this movie made me fall MORE in love with Freddie and Queen if that was even possible. GO SEE THIS MOVIE !!! It's worth the ticket price!!!

As someone who had the privilege of actually seeing them live, not just once, but twice in '80 & '82 from what I've seen in the trailers, clips and interviews with the cast they've truly captured the essence of Queen. I became a fan of them back in high school in the early '70s and their music is still relevant to this day. If you watch "Queen Montreal 1981" that was the tour, for "The Game" album, when I went to my first Queen concert. It was in September 1980 at Madison Square Garden.

I was born in May 1991. So Freddie died the year I was born. I basically came out of the womb loving Queen. My parents raised me on Freddie’s voice. I absolutely love to sing, and have been singing since I was a toddler. I’ve been in various rock bands, but I truly live for good acoustic music. My husband and I were listening to Queen the other night, and he was saying how he sees influences of Freddie in my voice (OBVIOUSLY, I am not as amazing as he was, not even close haha). But just the way he wraps his voice around every word and uses lots of dynamic, that’s something I seem to do naturally. I knew Freddie’s music and worshipped him since I was a child. In my teen years, my ringtones on my flip phone consisted of several different Queen songs. My alarm every morning was “Fat Bottom Girls” haha!!! One time in high school, I was in detention for having too many tardies. I was a good kid, and had never been in detention before. Phones were not allowed in there. Well, my principal walked into the room and asked why I of all people were in there. As I was talking to him, my phone started ringing and a Queen song rang out loud in the room. My principal started laughing. He said, “You are not like other teenagers. What kind of teenager has a Queen song as their ringtone? Get out of here, you don’t belong here.” I got up so fast and went home haha. It’s true, I have never been your typical Millennial. I am so thankful that other people younger than me will be able to be introduced to the man who has had such a huge influence on my life. I left the theatre in absolute messy tears. Rami was the true essence of Freddie. I felt like I got to see him in a way I was never able to, because all of these things happened before I was alive. My dad remembers watching “Live Aid” on TV. He said EVERYONE watched it live, but Queen was the best performance out of everyone. My dad and I were comparing live singers the other day when I was over at his house, and he was talking about Frank Sinatra behind the scenes and how much charisma he had. So to prove to him that Freddie had more charisma in his little finger than Frank Sinatra (who I love too by the way), I put on the Live Aid performance. My dad said, “Uh, honey, I saw this live on TV. You don’t have to tell me 😂.” I am so happy that my dad and I share such a love for Queen. I only hope to pass this down to my daughters. Thank you for giving those of us who were not around to witness his greatness while he was alive this movie. Amazing job.

Critics of this movie need to take a long hard look at themselfs, this is a masterpiece as a biopic. The support actors were everybit as important as the main four, and cameos from Mike Meyers and Adam Lambert were wonderful easter eggs. Everything aboutthis movie moved me, and two days later I am still emotionally moved by how Queen effected my life with its music as I grew up. You cant watch this movie and not sing tap you feet and shed a tear or fifty.... Its just that good. In an age of special effects used to entertain.... this movie uses acting and actors to bring a story to life that is worthy of the highest accolades.
