CJ Ramone aka Christopher Joseph Ward’s ALLEGED legal testimony has entered the broiling Ramones estate feud between Linda Ramone and Mickey Leigh. If real, it paints a damning, weighted picture of Joey’s relationship with his brother. I am so very curious to hear what Marky Ramone might have to say about all of this.

When the Ramones recorded their debut album in 1976, it heralded the true birth of punk rock. Unforgettable front man Joey Ramone gave voice to the disaffected youth of the seventies and eighties, and the band influenced the counterculture for decades to come. With honesty, humor, and grace, Joey’s brother, Mickey Leigh, shares a fascinating, intimate look at the turbulent life of one of America’s greatest-and unlikeliest-music icons. While the music lives on for new generations to discover, I Slept with Joey Ramone is the enduring portrait of a man who struggled to find his voice and of the brother who loved him.
The Ramones were an American punk rock band formed in the New York City neighborhood Forest Hills, Queens in 1974. Known for helping establish the punk movement in the United States, the Ramones are often cited as the first true punk band. Though achieving little commercial success, the band is seen today as highly influential in punk culture. All members adopted pseudonyms ending with the surname Ramone, although none was biologically related: they were inspired by Paul McCartney, who would check into hotels under the alias Paul Ramon. The Ramones performed 2,263 concerts, touring virtually nonstop for 22 years. In 1996, after a tour with the Lollapalooza music festival, they played a farewell concert in Los Angeles and disbanded. By 2014, all four of the band's original members had died - lead singer Joey Ramone (1951-2001), bassist Dee Dee Ramone (1951-2002), guitarist Johnny Ramone (1948-2004) and drummer Tommy Ramone (1949-2014). All of the surviving members of the Ramones - bassist C. J. Ramone (who replaced Dee Dee in 1989 and stayed with the band until its dissolution) and drummers Marky Ramone, Richie Ramone and Elvis Ramone - remain musically active. Recognition of the band's importance has built over the years.The Ramones ranked number 26 in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time" and number 17 in VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock". In 2002, the Ramones were ranked the second-greatest band of all time by Spin, trailing only the Beatles. On March 18, 2002, the original four members and Tommy's replacement on drums, Marky Ramone, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility. In 2011, the group was awarded a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

I was lucky enough to see the Ramones with CJ in a small bar in New Orleans around 1990.

I’ve been a fan for 40 yrs, Seen them play multiple times, I’ve read every book ! No one liked Mitchell!!! You’ve seen the beefs between Marc and Joey on stern ? I think Linda , Marc , and CJ are scared that Mitchell will make a movie like the did with the Pistols ( Jonesy book)!! Reputations can be ruined by misinterpretations or Biopics !! I concer let’s hear Marc’s opinion, but it will be Biased !!!! Ritchie’s still pissed over Merch $$$$ . Johnny was the general, Linda slept with Joey and married John …, probably monte will side with Mitchell , cuz he was joeys minder!! Mitchell was a roadie, but blood . Oi Vey!!!! BTW …. Pete Davidson looks nothing like Joey !!!! Good luck you guys …, but no one liked Mitchell!!! lol

Marky actually agrees with CJ! Quite frankly, i do too. Mickey's story is a great one, but I think it should be just left in book forum. A biopic about his book is going to be viewed by non-Ramones fans as a Ramones biopic, even if it's just Mickey's story. As a fan, I don't think it should happen. Imo, it's going to cause way too much damage to their legacy. Big fans already know the feuds. Non-fans are just going to make it irritating. lol. I believe CJ when he says this, but it also needs to be taken into consideration that Mickey and Joey were butting heads during CJ's tenure in the band (I know this because Mickey literally talks about it IN HIS BOOK). But, I also believe they made up and loved each other (siblings rival, i know firsthand), and I don't deny Mickey's important role in the Ramones story. I think Mickey's doing a great job on maintaining Joey's legacy, and I think Linda is doing a fine job on maintaining Johnny's. Bad blood is exclusive to the Ramones legacy, so as an outsider, i'm not gonna throw my two cents into that (although I guess I kind of already did! lol). But I wouldn't want to see this biopic anymore than I would want to see a biopic based on Johnny's "Commando" or Vera's Dee Dee book. Monte's book is the only one I trust as being the best way to approach the Ramones on the big screen. Sidenote: Those Rattlers and Stop records kick so much ass.

@@Frumess You think the movie would damage their legacy? I feel like it would just come and go and not make a huge impression
@Frumess
@Frumess 3 ай бұрын
@opaljk4835 Maybe damaging. The legacy is a bit heavy handed, But it's a movie that has a weighted bias that does affect the other three members. A movie about Joey Ramone involves all The Ramones in the same way a movie about Johnny Ramone involves all the Ramones. I think it's more complicated
