Kennywood 2022 Season Recap: A Classic Ride Returns

Another Kennywood season has ended, so you know what time it is! Kennywood's 124th season was the start of a multi-year investment plan, bringing with it several notable upgrades and facelifts to many areas of the park. As the season went on, we saw special events, changes around the park, and a devastating event that would force the park to adapt. Before we head into 2023's coaster season, let's take one last look at 2022 and all the notable events that happened at Kennywood.

As an eastern PA native whose home park is Knoebels, I got to visit Kennywood for the first time earlier this month and I was very, very impressed. It was very clean, easy to get around, and the coaster collection is very underrated. The only coaster I wasn't really all that impressed by was Racer, but other than that, all the other coasters were good to great. Enjoyed the iconic double-down on Jack Rabbit and the awesome speed of Phantom's Revenge. However, I will say that my two favorite coasters I rode were Sky Rocket and Thunderbolt. Can't wait to get back!

Visited on June 23 this year. Had an absolute blast. Got six rides on Phantom and three on Curtain. It was crowded, but I could manage. This place is gorgeous. Lake Compounce also looked great. Hopefully I'll visit Adventureland sometime soon... I actually kinda like Parques parks.

Went back to Kennywood twice for the first time since 2019 and what an improvement from four years ago. Got my missing credits (Curtain and Sky Rocket), finally rode Black Widow, and explored all the new improvements!! Can't wait to be back this summer, especially for more Phantom rides :)

Yeah me and Alex stood at Curtain for 2 hrs just for them to tell us it was too cold. Hate how sensitive to weather it is.

Great video! One positive note that I felt was important was the crowds picked up majorly during holiday lights. This caused Kennywood to extend hours during the event which was a nice change to the cut hours during the summer. But with limited attractions, this led to long lines. I was at the park the Saturday after thanksgiving and after waiting almost an hour for kangaroo we found out kennywood extended their closing time to 10pm. My reason for mentioning this was while the reduced closing times in the sumner definitely didn’t sit well, it was nice to see the opposite happen during holiday lights which in a way reminded me of old Kennywood where the park never set their closing time but would base it on daily attendance.

One of the main things I would like to see at Kenywood is a revived Steelers country. This area would have been super cool, and this would make even more $$

Kennywood’s malice looks very similar to Adventureland’s, as ours was also really good. I do wish ours was indoors tho

Its so weird the steelers country building never got the attractions that were announced in there originally. I guess the pandemic had something to do with it but youd think theyd still go through with their plans unless something significant fell through with it

Hey ramping rex or johnothan um I love it videos and my dad does too because actually redid phantom back in 2001 and built exterminator and sky rocket and I love hearing the story about him and his group thank u for making ur videos
