Rashmika delivered the first slap AFTER she was constantly abused by RanVijay, he was pulling her bra straps and hitting her continuously which left marks on her back The fact that you tried to gloss over his act is the reason people are calling this movie problematic, you try to justify and support the character and show Rashmika's character as the bad one to uplift Ranvijay

The issue is not about the violence. It is about glorifying it and the hero faces no consequences of his actions. I know there are many films out there where there is a lot of violence, but this film has its hero committing crime. His weird obsession with his father was unexplained. They could have explored a little bit more about his emotional state as a kid. That would have explained his extreme behaviour upto some extent. Edit: To all those who are saying "It isn't glorifying anything", "You do not have good argument since you are using the word 'glorify'", if you do not like what I said, MOVE ON! I expressed my opinion and being respectful about it. I also mentioned that the director should have explored his emotional side. On top of everything, the director, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, mentioned "If you cannot slap or cuss or touch your partner whenever you want, then it is not a real relationship". Clearly shows his views as a director and a person, someone with no value for his partner. Before you come and attack here, please get your facts checked.

Just watch this movie with the idea that it's about loveless, disrespected, unaware, not validated adolescent who never grows up to be a real MAN(who needs to be calm composed and can manage his anger even in the adverse situation, thinks before he acts)and is still stuck in their own mind and somehow trying to justify it by being ALPHA but on the ground level he cannot resolve his daddy issue and validation, ends up being a person who don't protect his family rather his family needs protection from him leading to everyone abandoning him at the end. So long story short being ALPHA is just being stupid, and if you justify his behaviour you should contact the therapist ASAP coz you might be suffering from some unresolved issues. Ranbir Kapoor is a good actor tho....and Vanga is more like a rebellious child who's like ek biscuit khane se mana kiya toh pura pack khaunga(needs to focus more on craft than on being diverted)...story line is average(rather copied), action is top-level..and that's the review

And those were the same thoughts that i had watching the movie, and i even think that movie tried to portray it that way, because the ending monologue by ranvijay singh, is kind of childish in a way, the storyline is straight and kind of a slow burn, but i would much rather watch slow burn movies or shows rather than hyper edited, overly complex, but not engaging movies. And yeah your opinion about director is completely right, especially considering his interview clip with Anupama, he is a stubborn person I guess, i can't justify him, but his craft is good in my opinion, agree to disagree, i am just trying to seperate the art from the artist.

Also that kind of editing and flashbacks made me even more curious about the movie, because i was bored watching that plane sequence and suddenly the action sequence pops up , and it made me curious

Jo cheez tumhare hisaab se immoral hai voh doosre varg ke liye moral ho skti hai and vice versa, morality is very subjective, and liking a movie doesn't mean you like the character as a person, it simply means you are loving the technicalities behind the movie, whether you know those technicalities conciously or sub conciously, story works when the character beats work, not when a character is of a certain type only.

his opinion was good about the movie but the fact that he compared the movie with netflix crime documentaries was not par as in India people don’t see movies as movie it does somehow reflect n affect our society. Yes you're right. And what adit is saying that people shouldn't cancel the movie. No one is cancelling it in a first place and it's just receiving criticism and getting rightfully called out for its glorification. What i don't like is people who loved the movie are justifying it by saying "it's just a movie"🤡 and trying to supress opinion of people who are rightfully calling it out for its over the top glorification. We know it's a movie and since when did we stop not critically reviewing a movie? KZfaqrs like him have called out movie characters of 4 more shots pls and recent bhumi pednekar film for glorifying problematic female characters and justifying their actions as feminism. Nobody had a problem with that and nobody ever stated these reviews as "it's just a movie", so why only Animal should get away easily?😂😂

I have a problem with people calling it 'just a movie' and that justification. I rarely watch movies and when i do i expect a good plot. Animal is just gore and action packed movie with bearly any plot. Just like its name the character Ranbir kapoor potrayed made sense but other than that it was just plain distress. The second half was shit... Tripti's character as zoya was a bad spy..there wasnt a single spy like element explored about her character. Overall, my only problem is how movies impact peoples life and i hope nobody gets influenced by this movie.

We all get what you're trying to say. But the thing is in those serial killer documentaries or shows like crime patrol condemn the actions of such criminals. This movie kind of condones and hails it? That's the issue. It is an anti-hero concept being portrayed as a heroic one. I mean haven't we all seen chapris do things to look 'cool' that disgust us in every other way? So even if it doesn't affect us, it may to some people. He went through a lot of trauma in relation to his dad. But the end should've actually shown that he changed and realised he wronged others because he was wronged and that's not normal. That would've actually given a lot less criticism.
