Nut sauce works pretty good. I’ve actually taken to just replacing the nuts on my guitars with those Graphtech TUSQ XL nuts. They’re Teflon and graphite infused organic polymer. Not only do they solve the tuning issues, but they actually give you a little bit more sustain, and brighten up the sound little bit. Just throwing that out there in case you ever just need to swap out a nut altogether. Those tusq XLs are pretty sweet. No nut sauce needed.

I think you might even be able to get away with applying less to the nut. It’s hard to be precise with the application tube. I love this stuff and had really good results with it.

Since 2-3 string sets, I wind the 3 high strings of my LesPaul up the post instead of down... it changes the angle of the string in the nut and it's more stable.

My R7 Goldtop was having G string tuning issues and i solved it by winding the G string in The EVH method. first winding under the string where it goes through the post and the rest go up the post. .this decreased the down pressure and the G string on the nut slot and it worked like magic!🤘 I do this for all the strings now on any of my guitars that do not have a floyd.

Just get automotive silicone dielectric grease. You can get more for half the price.

I have also found that top wrapping helps as it reduces the break angle over the bridge placing less tension on the saddles, just one of the benefits of top wrapping. 🤘😎🎸🏍

I raise the stopbars on my Les Pauls to reduce stress and friction on the tuneomatic. Works wonders. And bending the strings is easier too....

I use that shit on every string change. On the nut, the saddles and in the tuner gears. It's just silicone grease and it stays where you put it. Magic in a tube! I also found this thing called a String Stretcha (actual spelling) It's a plastic stick that has a hook and heel on one end. You latch a string under it and tilt it to put some tension on the string then you slide it up and down the whole length of each string. It applies even, uniform tension and will pre-stretch your strings. It is quite amazing. Tune it, then run it over each string. Then check the tuning. You will find it's almost a whole step lower! Tune it back up and that's it. With the nut sauce you will stay in tune. At least it will be much improved. Add in all the other tips and tricks being called out below me and rock on

My DIY recipe is PTFU lube/grease (that I already have for my bicycles), mixed with pure white vaseline and some graphite powder added to it. On Fender's I smear it also under the string trees. Works a charm.

My go-to neck rest is a purple yoga block. Doesn't slip, doesn't slide, and my wife hasn't asked for it back.

Hey Marty Sup.... I tried the Nut Sauce but they don’t give you very much in that tube. I found another brand called Slick Nutz. It’s a full ounce for around $10. It works just as well. Plus it comes with a needle like tube on the top of the bottle to get in tight places. I have a Bigsby on one of my Pauls it works great. . Btw, I put a Vibramate on the Bigsby it holds the strings so you don’t have to put the strings on those little pins. So much easier replacing strings. Then I put a Reverend Soft Spring also on the Bigsby. I can actually Dive Bomb on this Bigsby now, amazing, plus it stays in tune perfect. I put on a roller nut but the stock Tune-O-Matic seems to work better. Enjoy your videos. Merry Christmas 🎅.

I have a '19 Trad, arrived set up, never had a tuning issue. I love my LP!

I bought some off brand on amazon because I wasn't gonna pay 20 plus shipping for a syringe lol but the stuff works fine,when I tune up all 3 guitars don't have that ping! At all

I use a mix of pencil lead sanded off the pencil into a powder and mix it with some vasiline. Work great. Will turn your white but gray though.

Also make sure the nut slots are not cut with high sides. the total thickness/height of the nut itself. you want the sides of the nut slot to be as low as possible so they do not catch the string that much. Look at how deep the string sits in the slot? it should be where you see a good bit of the string. you want just enough to keep the string in place.

I used some of that yesterday changing my strings. Big Ben nut sauces good stuff 😂

I had two different nuts on my LP Custom. NEVER stayed in tune. Tried a bone nut and Viola. Crazy stable!

Cool science break! I find if you use that much in the nut, when you re-tune, all the "sauce" goes with the string and settles behind the nut. Use the more precise applicator, and get a tiny amount in the slots. But, it does help tuning issues! $20 for $1 worth of plastic and product - gotta love capitalism!

I’ve been using the D’adario version of this stuff. It’s a little Les expensive, but works great. It doesn’t have the funny name though,so that’s probably justifies a few dollars more 😂Remember Eddies oil stains all over his headstock from 3in One oil

The only thing to really fix the nut on my Les Paul was changing it out for a graphtech nut. The lubricant will work for a short time until it wears off.

It’s currently on sale at sweetwater! Hopefully this helps me with my les Paul custom tuning issue.

I spoke with the man that invented it.. he is a scientist and he told me that all you need is a practically microscopic amount. I purchased the large syringe almost 16 years ago and I have dozens of guitars .. I definitely followed his advice. I use a flat tooth pick cut in half and transfer it from the low E to the high E… same with the saddles

It is totally a legit product. Especially on an acoustic guitar with a cheap plastic bridge and PVC nut.

I may be wrong but it looks like the tail piece at the bridge was lowered all the way down for a string overwrap. If the break angle at the bridge is too sharp then that would be the cause for your tuning issues.

Can you do a update how long it helped with thing issues before reapplying. Looks like great solution. 🤘

I just use motor oil mixed with KY. Works great and turns the nut a nice honey aged color.

This stuff is better than graphite. My PRS does the same thing. G string is the worst. I have had it worked on but it still needs sauce. Like a bowl of chili. Needs hot sauce. 😮

I dab a little 3 in 1 on my non locking nuts before every play never broke a string ✌️

Great way I keep my Les Paul nut good is simply using an HB pencil. Works great and cheap.

Thousands of dollars for guitars and you would think Gibson could make a guitar that stays in tune .

I don’t want to wish bad luck, but as soon as the water part of it will dry out, the issue will appear again. What you need is: - perfectly filed nut slots (both on the bottom and on the sides of them) - an oil lubricant, which will last way longer! I use an electric razor oil, it works perfectly for the task. Fast and precisely moving mechanic parts need oil, not grease!

I have the solution for everyone who has guitars that don't tune as well as the less paul, I have watched many videos and no one has the solution to the problem, in my case my less paul becomes more and more in tune as we play.
