How to host an Asian person according to most late night hosts: 1. Ask where they’re from. 2. Ask where they’re ORIGINALLY from. 3. Ask where their parents are from. 4. Ask what their parents think of their acting career. Edit: Adding to say the new Jimmy Kimmel interview with Ali Wong was refreshing and didn't ask these questions.

Jimmy didn't bother to fix his hair. You can tell he took no interest in having this guy. At the beginning Randall mentioned it's his first time in a late show and jimmy replied with "ohh" really bad tone. Like " why am i not surprised" "this guy is a waste of my time".

RANDALL PARK!!! That's my brotha right there!!! So happy for him. One of the best and most genuine guys, not only in show business, but among everyone I've ever met. HIS STORY ABOUT BEING A GRAPHIC DESIGNER at New Times LA on Sawtelle in 2002 is 100% TRUE! (New Times LA, Newspaper that competed with LA Weekly that went out of business). I was an Account Exec at New Times LA the same time Randall was the graphic designer there using the stock photos for the "escort" ads and I would crack up because Randall would be "STONED FACE" stoic all day bc he hated that job. No more stock photos brother!!! You made it! You're doing it! And this is just the beginning. First Asian American Actor to get an Emmy or Academy Award. I'm calling it now. No one deserves it more. Randall has always been respectful and grounded in everything he does. Thumbs way up. He's also a Kollaboration Alumni! Shout out to anyone who knew iLLagain. Asian Americans, WE FRESH OFF THE BOAT! Can't stop, won't stop!

+MsUsagi513 but it's not the first question that pops into your head when you meet a white person. Randall Park also had an interview with Ellen and she asked the exact same questions about his heritage, as if it was important to his actual JOB, being an actor. Watch any first interview with white actors, that's not what they're asked. People of colour are perceived as foreign and exotic, while white people are allowed to present as themselves, as people. No one expects them to represent as their entire race. It's about the individual

"Where are you from?" is one of the most basic questions anyone asks someone they've just met for the first time.There's nothing racial about it, as it's usually just some attempt to find common ground, which you'd be looking for in any normal conversation . There were no "bad" intentions here on Kimmel's part...

Well at least, Jimmy did better than other late night hosts that interview Randell. And it's fine to ask that question. I'd be proud to say where I'm from and where my parents are from. Yeah I'm proud to be an Asian-American and also proud of my heritage. And I believe he asked that and "does your parent support you being an actor" to show the stereotypical question.

ok it might sound racist but i dont think so. if youve watched other interviews he also asks people where theyre from (whites, blacks, latinos, and so on). I think he asks that to use it as a base on to keep the conversation started.
