Nice , grinding area, i have the same toolpost on my lathe. The welder will probably be ok, the Onan engine is probably junk, and hard to find parts for.

Thanks man. I sold the welder a couple of weeks ago.

On your 100# anvil, would a plywood box of six inches of sand (more permanent would be concrete) for the base to sit in keep it from 'walking'? That way it would still be movable especially if you put castors that would contact when the assembly was tilted? Always enjoy your video work.

Thanks Douglas. Yes that sounds like that would probably work.

@@RPMechanics I would , They were built back when things were easy !! prob a clean up and a switch or 2 and she will go .. The onan is a good engine and easy to find a replacement for .. Good luck my friend !!

I'm not familiar with dorian/aloris tool post but I think this is a good one. Lot of machinists have one. I have the same rotary table, I still use it on my mill sometime. Nice video

On the welder, anytime I’ve loaned tools that’s pretty much how they’ve get returned.

What’s your thoughts on Shars tooling?ive been pretty happy so far. I would almost call it quality Chinese tooling as opposed to cheap Asian tooling
@RPMechanics
@RPMechanics 5 жыл бұрын
I agree. I would say Shars is the best outlet I know of for import tooling.

If you don’t mind me asking, how much was the lathe? Thinking that might be the perfect size lathe for my garage shop.

I'm very impressed with mine. All the machined and ground surfaces fit tight and smooth and the surface finishes are as good as I've seen. I've had no problem staying within .001 on the parts I've made.
