Matched power huh ? Then you would have hated the rainbow trains we had back in the 70s. Early Conrail and early BN. No one from my era could forget the colorful Chessie System. They even had a couple of steam trains made up in Chessie colors. Conrail blue was so nice compared to Penn Central dirt. I do have to hand it to BNSF for picking the old Great Northern Empire Builder scheme for the railroad.

You forgot early CSX too. You would see mixed consists of Seaboard system, Chessie system, family lines, SCL, L&N, B&O, C&O, CSX, etc locomotives

I've always preferred high mounted ditch lights. That being said, BC Rail takes the cake when it comes to ditch light mounts, using both high and low on the same locomotive.

I prefer engines with a cab headlight because at night you don't have to swallow or inhale a bunch of bugs to get on the engine. As a foamer I prefer noselights though.

If you like high headlights then NS is mostly your field of dreams. However they did have some units that were nose light, all ex-BN. They had 9 first gen 60Ms with the 3 piece windshield from 2014 to 2019. It's a shame they got rid of those.

I took got to see cp 2816 in Davenport, Iowa. It was sooooo worth it, I got to see big boy a few years back as well. Especially considering both passed through my hometown and cp 2816 passed right in front of my house. No matter what railroad mainline steam is always cool😎

I know it’s a good train when the headlights are separated and not all crushed together from a far distance. Either an EMD or an SD70M/Ace or an old Dash 8, 9, AC4400CW, and the godly AC6000CW

Im a big fan of BNSF units still in warbonnet paint along with their H4 paint scheme. But one satisfying thing you missed is freshly painted engines. Those spark satisfaction as well no matter the paint scheme used for any railroad.

There never was an H1 GP60M, found a list of every paint scheme the GP60Ms wore and none wore it. GP60M liveries were: ATSF Warbonnet, BNSF Warbonnet, Maersk Sealand, BNSF H2, H3 and H4.

I do agree with many of these. There's certain things locomotives can have that makes them look so much cooler! The headlight thing reminded me: There's a fictional railroad of mine that I'll probably start modeling one day, and the locomotives operated by this railroad have both high and nose headlights instead of one of the two.

To be fair, BNSF has always been this way when it comes to mixing different locomotives together in a consist. Heck, you could even go back to predecessors Burlington Northern and Santa Fe, you very rarely saw matched consists back in those days. Also, totally agree about the Heritage 1 scheme (and I'll even throw the H2 scheme in there as well, despite the inconsistencies of the orange on those units), not only for its looks, but just for the fact it was when BNSF was a much better company in general to work for.

1:30 As someone who sits trackside in Roseville, i can tell you that something about Thundercab ACes are much cooler than the ISO ACes. I’m glad UP did their heritage units with Thundercabs. Edit: i liked and caught UP 1988 2 days after this vid came out

Big Boy 4014 was testing a PTC system without a Diesel helper this week, so perhaps if it works well, it could allow steam excursions with other streamers being PTC equipted on other lines (if the other lines agree to them).

I railfan the UP and something about Norfolk southern leaders just hits me. Any other foreign power does not quite hit me the same way as an NS lead. Something else that hits me is when you actually get good audio of a wayside horn.

Eh, i dont really care much for the ditchlights lol. Maybe ill start paying attention to them. I do like it when trains have horns they aren't supposed to, or that rare chance a horn can get fouled/broken and then sound better. I know NS 1070 is supposed to have a K5LLA, but that got replaced with some P5 thing and then it got a K1L13, which i personally really like and suits it well. Also i gotta mention CSX 483, its K5LA is broken a little bit but it makes it sound really cool in my opinion.

Just an opinion, but I think almost every modern locomotive looks better with a nose mounted headlight. Now that excludes, EMD standard cabs. Not a huge fan of the nose headlight on standard cabs from any year.

Hey man I'm so happy you got to see see Canadian Pacific 2816 if you want my two cents though I think they should have brought out the Royal Hudson that would have been even better to see don't get me wrong seeing a main line steam locomotive is awesome as heck but to see a real Hudson I think would have been a whole lot cooler but that's just me I was going to go friend of mine said he was going to come and get me we were going to go up to Oklahoma to see if that's about 4 hours from where I live I live down in Texas in the Dallas Fort Worth area the problem with this guy is loving to death awesome guy but he has poor planning skills and very poor communication skills I'm thinking he's going to come and get me at like maybe five or six we drive to Oklahoma get a hotel spend the night get up at 8:00 the next day or earlier to watch the train to park and Chase it down to Shreveport Louisiana unfortunately that did not happen it's getting later and later and I'm like dude what's going on where are you he keeps getting delayed I said this is not going to work out and the reason is because well if I was to leave at midnight I wouldn't get there until like very early in the morning and I would not get very much sleep to go and see it then he said I'm going to be leaving at 4:00 in the morning the next day to go out there you want to come I told him I would if you had told me earlier LOL if I had known I could have gone to bed about 8:00 or 9:00 and got plenty of sleep there were storms all over the place where the train was running anyway but for anybody who had a chance to see it I am very happy for you and I hope you're blessed and I hope all of you are safe out there watching this beautiful locomotive to see it with f units must have been amazing but you know honestly I'm looking forward to seeing the big boy come back to Texas this year the Hinckley said I have no idea where that is I'll have to look it up but if you could tell me I'm just curious what state it runs through anyway I really enjoyed your video and I'm glad you found some positives about rail fanning I don't complain too much then again I can't go real feeling very much but when I do get to go and see some trains it's always nice to take some pictures and videos and unfortunately one of my railroads the Trinity Railway Express is about to replace a lot of their power with the ugly Simmons Chargers so I'm going to go see what I can while I can anyway keep up the good work be safe around trains happy railroading and may the good Lord bless you take care
