A long overdue catch up with a great mate !! We headed out to K'gari for a couple of nights looking for some muddies and some sandflies haha :) No shortage of the latter !! K'gari : The island is about 123 kilometres (76 mi) long and 22 kilometres (14 mi) wide. The island is considered to be the largest sand island in the world at 1,840 square kilometres (710 sq mi). It is also Queensland's largest island, Australia's sixth largest island and the largest island on the east coast of Australia.
During World War II, the island was used by the Services Reconnaissance Department (popularly known as "Z Special Unit") as a special forces training camp.
The island was part of the traditional lands of the Badjala people before European settlement. "K'gari" in the Butchulla (Badjala) language means paradise :) It most certainly is :)

I crossed that Strait earlier this year when it was gusting to 33 knots at the airport. The missus didn't speak for 3 hours after. I wish it blew up like that more often!

24:13 In that last scene with the boat leaving the sands, I had a pang of sadness, like leaving your summer memories to go to school. Hadn't even realized I was so immersed. Beautiful filming, and heaven indeed! Thanks for sharing. 🩴🐚

great footage as always mate. The island is known as K'Gari/Fraser Island, both names have traditional and cultural histories that should be both recognised and respected.

I was once prawning in Station Creek (Yuragir NP) and nearly stepped on a stone fish. It was just below a kids' jumping platform in shallow water. I relocated it a km upstream. Their appearance really does match their danger, but fair dinkum, they are amazingly designed creatures and strangely beautiful in a scary sort of way.

Ive never heard that or seen one either .. hopefully its just all the non-stop rain has washed a few down the coast and the cold temps knock em on the head real quick
