I can definitely identify with this comment. I crashed bad racing motorcycles at Willow Springs. I felt the bike lurch and everything was slow motion as I transitioned to crashing high side (like I said: bad crash). I was 100% confident that I was going to get it back until centrifugal force ripped my hands from the handlebars. It was at that point I thought, literally, “huh. I’m not saving this one.” Complete silence as I watched my bike sail off the track. It was like I was my motorcycle’s out of body experience. Then BOOM! BOOM! BANG BANG BANG UGH! CRASH OOOF! SKKKKRRRRRRRRRRRR.... uhhhhnnnn, damn it. What the fuck was THAT about?! Not a single feeling of fear until I came to a complete stop in some hay bails.

@@notmychairnotmyprblm thanks man. It was some of the best times of my life. I couldn’t even really call it a job. Ofcourse occasionally some bad/sad things happened but the good far outweighed the bad. I got to do some really cool things, meet amazing people and generally just enjoyed a dream job.

Randy is the coolest. My first World challenge race at the pre-meeting a cocky GT driver stands up and complains that the Touring Car drivers need to drive better because he was hit last race by a TC driver after his car stalled at the start. Randy immediately gets up and says something like "the Touring drivers here are all very good and you failed to forget that they are going much faster by the time they reach you and cannot react in time.". Was so awesome

Awesome guy, so modest and approachable. Randy was in Florida this weekend in Cletus McFarlands Freedom 500 racing ex Cop Crown Vic's and I am SOOOO looking forward to THAT story! Love it, Keep up the awesome Vinwiki stories Ed.

His self talk about when you crash is perfect: you are seeing yourself and measuring how bad it’s gonna be and you know it’s past your ability to change the outcome. You see yourself from the third person.

I had this same thing happen in my 93 T-Bird SC. Racing a Mustang, not on a track, and I was topping out the speedo. Up ahead was a red light, I hit the brake pedal and it was like stepping on a brick. I had no idea what was going on, so I start downshifting like a fool. Luckily I was able to slow down enough to whip the turn and get it pulled over. Glad I saw this video, because I had no idea why it did that.

Love the early ABS systems, had a W202 C class and I was approaching lights at around 40mph and very suddenly the lights went from green to red, I stomp on the brakes and get full ABS action on dry and clean asphalt. I'm appoaching the intersection and the car is not slowing down, I felt that it took the same distance to stop as it usually does to stop from 62mph. The good parts is that it actually stopped, the bad part is I almost had a heart attack.

Randy the first story was your fluid boiling over, ive had an experience while drifting where I would over heat the fluid and they wouldnt work. Let it cool down and they worked again!, unlike brake fade the fluid boiled over

The mellow, but still angry, exhaust note is my favorite. SOME obnoxious exhaust is ok, but while standing still idling, it should be tame and low-key. NOTE: I am talking about a daily, not a dedicated track car

11:42 had slightly similar situation with being in a fugal state. Mine was after a grand maul seizure (only one so far). Had turned off my computer and woke in a torrential rainstorm on a stretcher being wheeled into the ER entrance. My spouse said I was interacting the whole, fighting off the medics and not recognizing anyone, even my spouse. That now tops my scariest experiences list.

My mom had a Kawasaki G5 when I was a kid. Under NO circumstances is that a 5hp machine. We used to take it on the freeway 2-up. Those things have real power. Not as much as an 85cc MX bike, but big chunky torque from low down (for a 100). They made that engine from the 70s into the 2000s. One of the all time great small engines, and THE best beginner bike ever put on Earth. If I didn't have a matching pair of 120 C2s, I'd be in the market for a G5 as a runabout.

With my nutty (some would say stupid) sense of humor, I would HAVE to have future levels beyond PLAID...I mean SOMEONE has to ask the question: what levels are beyond that?? I mean, what happens when you venture into HOUNDSTOOTH territory, onto PAISLEY and into the extra dangerous realm of MANDELBROT?? I somehow imagine the highest level would be the fractal universe that starts generating hallucinations, maybe beyond that would be something quantum; but EVERYONE is using that term now and one must strive for originality!

Yeah I can top that: I suffered a TBI 20 years ago, no big deal one month in coma trick but, 20 years on, I high sided my CRF250L @ 70 km/h in SE Asia and woke up in A&E with the nurse taking personal photos of my CT scan. Corruption breads mediocrity ✌🏽🇦🇺

Dad had a Pontiac I believe that did the early abs thing went over a hill a little too quick there was a sharp right hander he jammed on the brake pedal and said it was like hitting a rock didn’t do anything and flew off the road lol cop asked if he was tryna kill himself he goes if I was I woulda hit the telephone pole I barely missed!
