Sadly, he ended up dating a girl we knew and was seeing her when he was killed. I got the call from a mutual friend before it went public. It was an awful time. You all prob don’t know randy told ozzy the day before accident he was Quitting the band at end of tour, and wanted the go home and be a classical guitar player. I remember watching an interview with Steve Vai. He said when he first heard Randy playing it was the most terrifying guitar sound he had ever heard, that Randy was truly innovating, and qualified that by saying, listen to his solos he was doing things that nobody had ever done before. Of course that’s all true but what got me about his playing was his phrasing. His phrasing was so good his solos are like listening to an intelligent conversation whith his guitar asking great questions and better answers. His playing is timeless, technical ability and creative ability he had more of each than 100 players could only hope to share. In my opinion the greatest player to ever draw breath and by a distance.

So I did and took them until he left For Ozzy. I saw him once in Quiet Riot, and didnt like the band. But when i saw him playing with me while giving lessons,i knew he had it n him to be a great guitarist! When I first heard the Blizzard album I was stunned! I couldn't believe how great he was! I saw RR 3 times w/Quiet Right at the Whiskey back in the day. I remember being just so blow off my ass by what I saw. I also had the chance to meet Randy once. He came to a gig of a high school rock band my friends had formed. I was the bands roadie. The gig was outside at Johnny Carson Park in Burbank Cal. We were all from Burbank and Randy had become our local hero. Randy shows up with his guitar case in hand. He sat down on the grass a bit away from everyone. I was stunned at how short and thin he was. On stag he looked so much larger than life. The last song my friends' band did was a QR song. Randy smiled throughout the whole song and really seemed to be listening very closely. After the band was finished, Randy came over to talked to everyone. He was so mild manner, non pretentious, and so incredibly humble. When we were loading out he insisted upon carring equipment to the van. He thanked the guys in the band for inviting him and asked to be invited again.

That's why I keep putting this stuff out! He was my neighbor, he lived on Amherst and I was on Cypress. He was very nice and always so humble. I'm glad I took lessons from him, because I was taking lessons at Larry Larson's because t was 3 bucks less then Randy charged ,but my friend ,Brent ,kept telling me to switch to Randy, so I walked over to his house and talked to hi and he gave me a card and that was it, I started the next week. Anyway ,I was about 12 when I started and was friends with Randy and Delores .And that day I hear on the radio ,and then everything after he was gone ,I just promised his mom I would not let people forget. So ,I'm glad to hear stories and tell mine too! Randy was a great guitarist ,but a great person too!

Alot of the pics are from this concert. Sadly, his last . He was miserable even though you couldn't tell it from the playing. If I'm not mistaken. He had his wisdom teeth pulled a few days prior to this show. Look closely at some of the pics and you can see his cheeks are still swollen. The poor guy was also sick alot during this time. But what a trooper!! Randy Rhoads was just freaking awesome!!

Even if it wasn't the last show , it's a killer solo! I have had all these tapes that I digitized, and was gonna post every show, I'm only missing 4 shows! I Knew Randy ,he was my neighbor and I took lessons from him in 78 until he left for Ozzy. I know a ton of people and in 82 and 83 I started collecting recordings ,because I didn't want him to be forgotten! I have posted about 20 shows 3 great quality ,like this soundboard. Every tape had a date, that is all,so no one knows for sure except for the very few shows ozzy knew where he was. But I get so much negative crap, like this is not the last one, who cares! It is a great recording and people need to mellow out .All of these Randy expert sites are run by people who were not even alive or didn't know him. I talk to Rudy and Bob Daisley still,I go by what they say! I think people should just enjoy whatever it is !!!! That is the whole point, that is why I stopped putting anything else up.

In 1981/2 NOBODY was shredding like this! EVH was doing his tapping ,and he was great,BUT Randy was bringing a whole new way of playing guitar! Lynch,Lee, all these Guys on the strip would just copy each other! George Lynch would just jump on any trend that was happening! And he had hair like qa 12 year old boy! Just that eight there lost him gigs! He is lucky Don Dorkken didn't care! OOpps ,this is about Randy! I was so happy for him when everything started to take off!

Missed my chance to see the Diary tour because a bad storm postponed it But the news of his death weeks later shattered me and to this day he's still the one who gives me the chills with his classically influenced metal guitar playing. ✝️ 🎸

That's great! He was a great teacher as well as a player! When he left to go record the first ozzy album ,when he came back to Burbank with copies of the album ,first time I heard it ,I was shocked how great he was ,and I had taken lessons from him for about a year ,and heard him jam from when he taught me ,and the Quiet Riot albums were, well you know......... so that first Blizzard album was amazing! It was great watching him get bet better and take over the world with a sub par singer and made him bigger then he ever was! I still miss him.
