I lived through this era as a teenager. Ozzy took a massive risk to make and front a new band on a very tight budget. This footage is from after hours television from Rochester, NY in the middle of exhaustive touring. The band just replaced bassist Bob Daisley with Rudy Sarzo (at Randy's insistence) and they had a lot to prove at the time. Ozzy gave everything to make this band work and frankly was just happy to rock and have hard earned success with talented musicians that he adored. Ozzy of course was mortified with Randy's death but played on through interviews and live shows with incredible courage to continue through the changes to come. Even in 2022, he has yet again another serious album of new material. We were truly lucky that Jeff Beck played so beautifully on Ozzy's latest album. Ozzy is the uncompromising original thinking rocker to the core despite any drama that has followed him through the years.

@augsdoggs
@augsdoggs 4 жыл бұрын
Michael Have you ever read the liner notes? If you had, you’d see that Ozzy, Randy, Bob Daisley (Bass) and Lee Kerslake (Drums), were credited as producers. They actually wrote and recorded the album. Same with Diary of a Madman, although Aldridge and Sarzo are inaccurately listed and pictured on the sleeve as players. Aldridge has always given credit to Lee for his playing on the recordings. In other words, Tommy and Rudy are hired guns, who learned the songs to perform them! They’re both brilliant players, especially on Speak of the Devil (live, after Randy’s death) with Brad Gillis. But your misinformed original comment lacks merit and your dismissive reply to Fly Johnson is not only insulting, it doubles down on your own lack of knowledge and understanding of the musical history you’re supposing to be so passionate about.
@Michael-----

@@augsdoggs I don't care what writing credits Daisley and Kerslake get or didn't get on Ozzy's first 2 solo albums. As I stated in my original post, the best Ozzy solo band is Randy, Tommy, Rudy, and Ozzy. No debate. You can feel whatever you want. I don't care what musicians YOU like best that Ozzy worked with. But you obviously care very much what I think. So deal with it!
@augsdoggs
@augsdoggs 4 жыл бұрын
Michael I never said what MY favorite lineup is. I’m also not in a debate with you. You wouldn’t make the debate team. I’m just breaking down exactly how you’re wrong. It’s not even a wrong opinion. It’s only a display of both your stubborn lack of information and proud ignorance. Unless you’ve seen the band live with Randy and this lineup, or listen to live bootlegs of touring gigs, you’ve never even heard this band. If you’re saying this video clip alone of fill in players sounds better than the album version, you’re either a liar or a fool. And yes, I guess I’ll have to deal with it. I’ll probably cry myself to sleep for the remainder of my days.

Saw Ozzy on his first tour and Diary Tour as well in Milwaukee 1981. Motorhead opened. I scored first row tickets which happened to be in front of a wall of speakers, and I didn't have earplugs -- they weren't as popular back then. It was so friggin' loud, it was distorting in my ear. I seriously thought I was permanently damaging my hearing and I just stood there like a deer in headlights not sure what to do. Ozzy came in front of me, clapping his hands and I think upset I wasn't clapping along, and spit out of his mouth a burst of Listerine at me. So I can say I was spit upon by Ozzy... but my 16-year old self really thought I had damaged my hearing for good! True story!

It's such a shame we don't have more concert footage of Randy, small little gem's like this, and not many, he is definitely one of the the reasons I started playing guitar.

Ozzy and Sharon do have unreleased live footage. Idk why they won’t release it but they recorded every concert. Tell me they didn’t because we have footage of brad gillis and Joe holmes at different times

@@_Suzuka_Joe the reason they won’t release them is because Sharon doesn’t see any money out of it. It’s sad.

There are, but there’s too many legal hoops to jump through for a release.

@@ShawnGisler , don't talk shit about Sharon, without her we wouldn't even be talking about Ozzy's solo career.

Randy started the modern style of playing shredding. He’s The Godfather of shred. Randy, you started all this. RIP, brother.
