Installation guide MerryWay Harman Android head unit media system similar to Xenovision 10.25 inch screen for Range Rover Evoque.
My journey to installing a 10.25" Android Car Entertainment System in my Range Rover Evoque. Check your version and see how I installed the Harman system into my 2017 Range Rover Evoque.
Bought first unit from AliExpress, second off a Facebook group. Thanks to the team at MerryWay for the support on fitting.
Similar process across the Jaguar Land Rover range of cars.

Your video has been a life saver, I have exact same car, ordered the Harman unit last August from AliExpress Kanor store, waited till I was off over Xmas and got through the install and no power to screen, took photos and sent to Kanor and they said it was all installed properly, I then contacted Merryway and they didn't offer any support at all they said contact the reseller. I ended up sending it back in January at a cost of £110 then they sent me a replacement one which arrived today, they told me the old one had a faulty wire. Anyway took the dash off there connected up same way as before same problem no power to screen, I thought FFS not again, opened KZfaq and found your video, I did not know the main cable had to be connected below the seat, there is my solution - massive thanks mate really appreciate you making this video and solving my problem. 5pm tonight driver's seat getting ripped out 😁👍🏻

Thanks so much for the comment. So glad it's helped, it's a bit fiddly but not hard to do this part. Make sure the connector is fully in to the unit under the seat, it takes a good push to get it flush once aligned. Also plan how you are running your cables up to the dash, the panel I used was fine for this and they tucked away nice. I'm having some GPS signal issues so I'm going to reposition that when I eventually get around to fitting my reverse camera. Good luck and if you can let me know how you get on.

@@GoodwinsPlace got it all done last night, longest bit was trying to feed the usb cable into the glovebox, it was a nightmare but I fed it along the front and managed to push it down through the top where the owners manual lives at the top of the glovebox sneaky drop down drawer. Anyway All looked great and tidy and then...no sound. Not sure what the story is I plugged the mic into the black socket it had no label on it just wondering if that's the issue, really don't want to rip it all off again so hoping it's a setting in the android that's set to Aux or something stulid

@@AndyTho1983 have you set the original system to aux? I use the steering wheel left hand control to select source. Test you have sound from the original DAB too. I plugged that mic in but never use it as the Android phone system is poor quality and I keep connected to the original system.

@@GoodwinsPlace Will try using the mode button on the steering wheel today to see if it switches through, seemed to be disabled last night and the power / volume button above the climate controls wasn't doing anything, I will let you know how I get on, have a feeling the dash is gonna have to come off again

@@GoodwinsPlace we have sound :-) turned out the big harness that goes into the box on the floor carries sound and wasn't in securely enough. The other loom that connects to the original harness is power only. All good now though. Thanks again mate be lost without your video 👍🏻

I have recently had an issue with my oem range rover entertainment system, so I started to do some research and came across this youtube video. This then gave me an idea to then go ahead and search for a android head unit along with the information from this video it shown me what to look out for when choosing the correct system. I was extremely confused as to which unit to get, however Craig Goodwins has been absolutely great in providing me information and is helping me along the way to get a system for my range rover. Thank you Craig and keep up with the great content.

Thanks. I test drove one with all the kit then bought the white one without test driving. Stupidly didn't check for reverse camera or sat nav, but think I prefer this anyway.

So glad it’s working and in English too! The install looks like a anxiety nightmare, moving seats, running cables and tight connector access, but you bossed it. The icing on the cake is full screen KZfaq, tested of course with Mr Furze and perfect for some “lofi hip hop radio - beats to relax/study to” on your commute. 🤘😎🤘

It was a bit of a head stress just figuring out the wiring. But wasn't too bad once I got into it. Yeah got a few apps for downloading content locally and put a 32gb usb in the glove box. Also have a Bluetooth control pad to install some emulators, my commute to work will be much more entertaining 😂

Hi yeah. I just bought a. 2015 evoque and i want to upgrade the screen aswell. Meanwhile, i dont have any idea of the electronic jobs.

It's all plugged into the right connectors rather than a technical wiring job. The hardest part is getting the cables to the right places. A local garage might do it for you but I'm guessing will cost quite a bit for the labour.

It all fits in one place so you can't get the cables wrong. Biggest issue is striping down your dashboard and seats, not hard just a pain.

Firstly, nice car! I'm glad you made this, I've got a seat Leon fr 14 plate with all of the extras (led lights, nav, front and rear sensors, dab ect) but it's before they made the stereo with android and I've purchased a unit, but too scared to fit it incase it's crap! Was £400 so should be good! After seeing you can do it on your much nicer car, I'm gunna take the plunge on Sunday! Just hope my connectors are not under the seat!

Good luck with the install. Most are just a straight forward install into an adapter behind the current head unit. My car changes as often as my credit rating 😂

Thanks. It's not that difficult once you have the right model for your year. Mostly plug and play with a bit of playing around routing the wires.

hello thanks to your video I have all tuned in addition I have the same models as yours I have tuned the original cable on the seats with the android cable and in the harness all and ok but I just have a problem with the sound Aux the original works but when I switch to aux and go to the Android no sound my english is not good sorry but please help me i am lost

Hi, Check all cables. Make sure Range Rover system is set to aux then switch to android. I no longer have this car so can't check other settings. I would contact Merryway who produce the system as they were able to help others.

In the Left hand driver the head unit is under the passenger or driver side?

I have no idea I'm sorry. I imagine it would be the same as the UK and be on the right of the car. You can feel it before taking the seat out.

Hello mate, I'll try to make this installation this weekend. I guess I'll take more or less all day long!! I didn't understand where you fix/put the External speaker, the external mic and the GPS. 1 Why should I have an external speaker? Does the system directly use the Land rover one? 2 Where do you suggest to fix the MIC in order to be usefull? The car one usually is over the head and I don't think you put it there. 3 Any suggestion for the GPS? Thanks in advance

Try contacting Merryway on AliExpress they are the best for advising on the best fit. I only did the one on my own car.

Take a look on AliExpress it should be the model before this which is easier to get hold of than this model.

Yes you can use any android navigation. I used to use Waze but Google Maps and others worked great too.

Ahh that makes more sense. I managed to get it out the top of the dashboard and had it centre a few inches back from the windscreen.

Are you switching to aux? Also make sure the connection under the seat is fully in.

Glad the video helped, I think you would use via a browser, I've got Chrome installed and can load up streaming items on there. I've installed a few TV Player apps and on demand video items to use when I get chance too.

Hi from Swansea :) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Have you managed to get the reverse camera to appear on screen when you go into reverse when in one of the Android/CarPlay menus? I have a similar system I installed but can’t get my reverse cam to display, unless I manually navigate back to the original menu. My car has the Bosch system not Harman like yours, but is also a manual not automatic. I know another person who had the same issue and theirs was manual too.

Croeso, There's an option in the menu I think to change from the OEM camera to an after market one. I've sold my car now so not able to check but you should be able to get it recognising it.

@@GoodwinsPlace 👋 thanks, I’m actually trying to get it to display the OEM factory camera. I’ve gone into the settings to select factory camera but it just won’t show up automatically when I go into reverse, only in the original menus. I assume the wiring is all good. Looks like I might have to buy an aftermarket camera, or uninstall it and send it back to China! :(

Hi my husband put a comment on here a couple of days ago asking where he can get the harness so he can fit the sat nav. This is an old video which is probably why you haven't answered but I would appreciate it if you could help because he is driving me nuts looking for this. I bought the modified harness with the second unit, but I didn't need the additional bits. You should get the right harness with the head unit when you buy it, it should be correct if you bought the one for the right model setup. Sorry for not replying to the other comment,I don't get notifications on all of them. If he wants to message me on Instagram I can try and help. But I've changed cars 3 times since.

@Goodwins Place I got my unit from Aliexpress and after follow the steps on your video everything worked great except the sound. I am not able to get sound from the unit and I already tried many different things. The sound is working if it is coming from the original OEM but no luck with the new unit. Do you have to put the sound mode in AUX or something like that? I tried that too but maybe I must do something else? I hope you can help me with this...

Hi, yes if it's the same unit as this one you put it as aux in the standard system before getting sound from the Android. If it's a different model some need an aux lead connecting. Also double check the cables under the seat if same system as mine.

Double check that you have nothing connected to aux input. Although if same model as mine was it should disable the aux on dash and enable this as the input.

Hey awesome review. Does this head unit come with a speaker to connect to the android system? If so what is the speaker used for? For the navigation when using the unit as a stand alone unit? Thanks.

Hi, I've seen some with a separate speaker but this one uses all audio through stock speakers. The Android system even takes priority over DAB when using sat nav instructions. The addition of a second mic is for calls and voice via the Android system. I have kept my phone connected to the stock phone Bluetooth as it uses the standard mic and a better quality audio. @@GoodwinsPlace thanks very much. I guess the one for the range rover sport works slightly differently. I am finding it hard to figure out what the speaker is for haha. Did you disconnect the battery before the installation or used any of those anti static bands for the swap of the circuit boards?

@@JPLlani I didn't disconnect the battery, you may wish to do this to be on the safe side. I didn't have to swap the boards on my model, as long as you aren't full of static the I don't think you'd need a static band on. I've worked on loads of different electronic items and never had issues with static. If it gives you more confidence then use them as it wouldn't harm.

Hi dear Goodwins Place! Great job and awesome results... Congratulations for the video! Actually, the infotainment system coming with the Evoque is not so exciting to use especially the navigation and the voice control systems. Thus, I would like to have more info about this Android system, below you can find some questions in this way you can answer me one by one and the specs of my Evoque, maybe you mentioned all this things on the video but for me is better read English than listening ;). RR Evoque SE Dynamic 150 cv MY2016 (obviously LHD) and equipped with Navigation System in a SD, Parking Assistant, Rear Cam, Rear/Front Proximity Sensors plus all the others functions of the InControl system (NO CD READER)... If you need more details, please let me know... 1. Where I can buy it considering that I live in Italy? If you can please provide me the exact model with the link even in private way... 2. May I use the GPS antenna of the existing Navigation System? If yes, how I can do it? 3. May I use the existing microphone located in the ceiling close to the internal courtesy light? If yes, how I can do it? 4. Is it possible to set the Android system in Italian language? (I think yes like all the others Android SO) That is all for the moment! 1. You will need to look on AliExpress the listings change all the time. You need to double check your system but sounds like mine. So will probably need a Harman system and the seller will be able to advise 2. Not sure but I imagine you will have to use the GPS with the system for the Android sat nav it will use the supplied GPS rather than factory. But you might be able to ask seller if an adapter exists. 3. Mic gets used for phone calls etc through the standard Bluetooth connection. I don't use the secondary mic for Android.

4. Yes Android system so configure language and sat nav as you would a phone.

It's the second part of this video, the screen and then all the fittings under the seat. Only the screen comes out from the old system. Hope this helps.

@@GoodwinsPlace I have a range rover year 2018 without cdm so harman type. Can you confirm that no card must be removed from the old system to install it in the new android? Why did you take the seat apart?

I'm not sure where you are located but just search for local car audio firms as most will be able to fit this no problem. I'm in South Wales and there were a few around here if I wanted.

You can get a system for a 2019 but it might be slightly different on the install. Best thing to do is find NMerryway and send them details of your car and photos so they can suggest the right model.
