Tip:- do NOT use ordinary grease to try to keep misture from a terminal or connector. Use good old Vaseline/petroleum jelly. All the lugs on the cables need to be REALLY clean - use wire brush and emery cloth to make them bright and shiny. Under the securing nuts, you need at the very least "star" washers. If anything is loose AT ALL put another star washer under the nut. Do NOT forget to REALLY clean up the terminal threads and UNDER the terminal nuts until they are bright/shiny. Yes, a new terminal block is a good idea, as is a new lead to replace the one which is charred. Best of luck.

LR want £175+tax for the terminal block because it can only be bought together with the long battery cable that runs front to back. Looks like I’ll be 3D printing but will probably convert to a single post rather than two, I can’t really see the point in two.

I was really shocked and almost speechless when I saw the condition after a year when I’d packed it so full of grease. it’s a really stupid place to put this connection in my opinion.

Great video, I would always advise cracking the wheel nuts with the wheel on the ground as a habit, as you are less likely to pull the vehicle off the jack, you did the right thing by putting the wheel underneath the sill, so many people do not and regret it.......

Ha you spotted that, I did put some loading on the wheel by lowering the Jack a little off camera but as you could see I was able to overcome that load and the wheel did turn a little, or maybe I’m just really strong, nothing to do with the giant crack bar I use. Thanks for your comment

I had the ground lug for the right headlight on my 2016 RRS TDV6 pop off the frame where it was welded. Looked like oxidation, maybe the steel on aluminum reaction? Filed a claim with LR US HQ for frame rust, they denied it but gave me a $300 voucher. Fixed it myself and got a new cargo mat with the cert.

Yeh worth a try, at least they gave you something. Also I love a cargo net, so practical. Once you start using one there’s no way back.

Sam says it’s almost like it’s a bad idea to put battery cables in the fender well.

…and then line it with sound deadening carpet which holds the moisture. As long as it lasts three years the manufacturer doesn’t seem to care. Ranger Rovers are not considered to have the best reliability I wonder how many end up on tow trucks due to these kind of battery issues?

7:52 get a high quality corrosion release spray like Normfest freeze spray (euro car parts) or Wurth rost off blue.

I bought some Granville Battery Terminal Grease, however I think some of the issue came from the fact that the terminal block is a Nylon 66 which, of course, we all know is hydroscopic, I believe the grease I used initially had caused the Nylon to become embrittled, plus all the burning that was going on, so this leaves me reluctant to pack the second hand one I have recently purchased with any petrochemical based product!! Still think its a stupid place to put this electrical terminal. Anyway @bizling thanks for watching, sorry for late response and please check out the latest "Extraction" video.

I’ve just had a second hand one delivered today, cost £15. If you want a new one you have to buy attached to the wire that runs back all the way to the battery. I think it was over £250. Part number is CK52-14452-AB

Oh yeh, that's really annoying, just listened to it again now, must have edited it with the ear buds in and in a quiet place, my bad, sorry about that, you're not missing much I'm just waffling on most of the time. I think it improves later in the video but the first minute or so is poor. Also need to invest in a decent mic. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
